Question: Harry Potter Fans!.!.!.!.Deathly Hallows
Okay, we all know that it was a happy ending!. Harry, Ron and Hermione all survived!. It was nice to see how it was all happy at the end and everything but don't you think it would have been more interesting, in a way, if just one of them had died!? I know there were loadss of others deaths but for one of the treo to die would have been a big shock!.

My theory, before i read DH, was that Hermione would die a hero by doing it to save someone elses liefe or something!. Hence, the reason she is in Gryffindor instead if Ravenclaw when she is so clever!.

What do you think!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I agree, as much as I'd hate to see one of the trio die!.

I think JK Rowling 'was' considering killing of one of the trio when she first published Philosopher's Stone, however since the books had gained such an international reputation and were loved amongst kids as well as adults, she just couldn't bring herself to do it!. I mean, she only didn't kill Hagrid because at the Goblet of Fire book launch in the UK a little boy went up to her and said 'Please don't let Hagrid die!.' The big shock in Deathly Hallows was when Harry was hit with Avada Kedavra in the Forbidden Forest during the truce at the Battle of Hogwarts!. I knew there was no way he could die though, what with the fact that only he could get rid of Voldemort once and for all!. I seriously though Hermione was going to die when Crabb shot Avada Kedavra at her when the trio was searching for Ravenclaw's diadem in the Room of Requirement, but she dodged it!.

I think JK Rowling made up these shock 'near misses' just to have us all on the edge, because she couldn't bring herself to killing Harry, Hermione or Ron!. Still, that's not ignoring the fact that many other much loved characters we killed in Deathly Hallows, like Lupin, Tonks, Fred and Colin Creevey!.

I think you're clever to say that about Hermione! It would never have come to me that something she said so early in the series would reflect to a possible outcome in the last book!. I would've been seriously upset if Jo did kill off one of the trio, though!. Everyone would I think, even though it might've added a little spice to the ending!. I thought Neville was going to die, but he certainly proved his place in Gryffindor during Deathly Hallows!

I think you're right, it would've added more interest for one of the trio to die!. Not many fans liked the epilogue too much!. I didn't at first when I finished Deathly Hallows, but then I thought, isn't this the best way for it to end!? Ron, Hermione, Harry and Ginny's kids all departing for Hogwarts like they had done not a long time ago!? In that sense, I loved it!
Anyway, I agree that it would have given the last book more of a reputation and a big shock, which would have stuck in our minds forever!.

hmmm!.!.!. Good theory!
I also thought that Jo, might have killed one of the trio, but my thought was it might be Ron! Simply because he can be soo insensitive some times!

However, I think that Hermione proved herself to be a worthy Gryffindor, early on in the series already! Merely because she weighs bravoury/chivalry/ valour above that of intelligence! So I think she proved herself a worthy Gryffindor, and neednt have died to do so!
I think a perfect example of this might be Albus Dumbledore, who was probably the cleverest man in the entire series, but he valued (much like Hermione) the Qualities of Gryffindor more!Www@QuestionHome@Com

NO, I don't think they should have died!. From the beginning, its been "the Trio" and its got to end that way!. Yes I agree it would have been nice if one of them got seriously injued or something, but NOT die!.

As for Hermione, I think she and Ron are a pair, one cannot be without the other!. Anyway, she's proven once and again she should be in Gryffindor!.

BUT, I do wish Ron wasn't still following Harry even in work!. I mean, that WAS a let down!. I thought Rowlings should have dwelled more on proving him as an individual instead of "Harry's sidekick"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would definitely rather have one of the trio die, as long as a few of the other deaths were taken out of the book!. I think the Weasleys suffered far too much for Ron to be demolished, and Harry obviously had to live to keep the little readers happy!. (:D) Hermione, on the other hand, could have gone either way!. So I think that if any of the three were killed off, it should have been her!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like your theory!. And it would have been very shocking if one of the trio had really died!.

But I think that JK Rowling was kinda in a rush to write the book!. It was good overall, but the epilogue blowed big time!. But if Hermione had died, who would Ron end up being with in the future!? Definatley not Lavender, lol!. And if Harry died, who would Ginny be with!? Dean!? Well, before DH came out, I remember a lot of fans were talking about Harry dying!. Technically he did, but not completely!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

That definently would have been interesting!. I thought the ending was a little cheesy!. Of course, the fact that they killed off Fred was enough!. :( I loved the twins!. I think they could have killed off Ron, but at the same time it was kind of nice that the trio all survived!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

i can see your point - especially as I did not like hermoine too much - too much of a know it all for my taste - but that's just me!. but i loved it - loved the fact that it ended in a full circle - harry & ginnie seeing thier own kids off @ kings cross!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

It would have been cool but Hermione dieing would make of a sad Ron future, which would mean that Harry wouldn't be very happy cause of Hermione and Ron being sad!.
It would have added more drama to the book but I still loved the ending!.

Very interesting theory, that of Hermione dying a hero!. If that had happened, there wouldn't have been need too kill so many of the other characters, e!.g!. Lupin and Tonks, or even Fred!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with you!.
I would of liked Ron to die instead, dying a hero or doing something that wasn't expected of him, but I do like the one you have thought up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

J K Rowling has said that she was actually planning on killing Harry off at the end, the reason she didn't was because of the fans, and Harry's popularity she said she didn't want to make us sad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think killing one of the notable and popular heroes in Harry Potter last book will make the end sad but more touching, as well as it will make the Harry Potter series unforgettable !.!.!.!.!.

Www@QuestionHome@Com

That would have been amazing!.
I hate all these books now with la de da happy endings!.
Life doesnt have them why the hell should literture!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

hmm!.!. Interesting theory!.!.!.!. Maybe Ron might have died or at least got injured badly trying to save Hermione from harm because of their love for each other !?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

i like your idea
i would have cried a lot if ron died and if hermione died ive would have been sadWww@QuestionHome@Com

Well technically Harry did die!.!.!.!.!.!.altho it didnt end that way!
Www@QuestionHome@Com

IDK I don't think one of them would die but if one of them had I thought it would be Ron (no i didn't want him to die)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with the answer above (Ginvera)!.

Hermione proved how she truly belonged in Gryffindor, as she showed signs of her bravery and morality in the first book! Remember when she was trying to solve the riddle, before Harry got inside that room!. Harry told her he wants her to come with him, she said that maybe she has brains and book intelligence, but Harry was brave and stout!. So by this she proved that she valued bravery over cleverness!. also in the second book, she broke the rules and brewed Polyjuice potion!. And in the third book, she helped Sirius escape!. Forth book, she stood up for the elves in S!.P!.E!.W and she managed to give Harry great advice!. Fifth book she HAD the idea of creating the DA!. In the sixth book she helped Harry and of course in Deathly Hallow she gave us full proof on how brave she was!. She is much like Dumbledore, perhaps the cleverest wizard of them all, yet he belonged in Gryffindor for his bravery!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
