Question: Question for Americans: Would you read a book with canada as a setting!?
Does that turn you on or off!? I'm particularly asking the young adult group of readers!. I plan to write a werewolf novel placed in a contemporary setting in either North America or Canada!. Wich would you rather!. Think about if you picked it up and read the back of the book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I have no problem reading books set in other countries, so I would definitely read a book set in Canada!.

If I picked the book and read the back, I really wouldn't buy it based on the country it's set it!. I judge before I buy based on the first couple of pages, really!.

Edit: Where in Canada!? Since it's with werewolves, a more rural area would be best!. Northern Ontario might work out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm from Toronto!.!.!. so I'd have to say!.!.!. keep those bloody werewolves away from here!. Maybe by Algonquin park, or in New Brunswick!.!.!. Oh, and British Columbia would be awesome- they've got bizarre forests over there!. I guess it all depends, maybe even in Nova Scotia!.

Oh, and I would LOVE to read something about Canada!. I always get squeamish when I read about books placed in America!. They're so!.!.!. normal!. And I definitely hate the stereotype of us!. I don't even know what a Lumber Jack is!.

For god sake, Americans are thick!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Uh!.!.!. I dont know, canada seems to be a pretty obscure place in my opinion!.!.!. the stereotype of a Canadian in the USA is generally a humongous lumberjack sitting in a loge surrounded by furs and eating pancakes with maple syrup on them!.!.!. I know, thats ill informed and everything, but thats the stereotype!. It would be interesting to see how we're wrong!.
But yeah, I would read it!. Sounds good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't really know about canada that much!.!.
when I picture it I sees log cabins and woods and small towns!. You may have a hard time getting to many americans if you don't set it in a place like that!. But I also live in Arizona so that might not give you a great point of view but it is mine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hell yeah I wouldnt mind !. Be glad you got universal health care and its home to one of the best bands ever, Rush!.
Hey if you dont mind can we deport President Bush over there!. You all can have him!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why wouldn't I!? A good story is a good story, regardless of the setting, as long as it's a well painted setting, obviously!. =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh!.!.!. I was gonna answer but I'm from Canada!. But if it's the other way around!. Us Canadians don't mind reading about Americans!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

ya sure I love reading about other counties! It get tried some reading about the usa all the time!

And your story idea looks awesome! I would so read it! :) Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why not!?

It's all about the quality of the book, not the setting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For that type of story I would have to say canada since it seems more desolate up there than the packed USA lol!.!.!. seems like a more suitable settingWww@QuestionHome@Com

Sure, It doesn't matter where the book is as long as it's setting helps the novel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course!. Canada is cool!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
