Philip Roth----and go check him out if you don't believe me----is the most decorated novelist in the world, yet no one knows who he is except me!. I read him religiously but have never heard anyone mention even his name, nonetheless a book of his!. Anyone familiar with him!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Www@QuestionHome@Com I am semi familiar with him!. I know who he is and have tried to read a couple of his books!. They weren't bad what I read it was just that I never had the time to finish the book I was on!. I myself though have to admit I am more of fan of Cormac McCarthy and John Steinbeck than I am of Philip Roth, but he's not too bad, what I've read of course!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I love Philip Roth!. I think he is by far the greatest living American novelist, and he ranks right up there in the world!. I thought "American Pastoral" was absolutely brilliant, and look forward to reading his other work as well!. I feel the same way about Saul Bellow!. Maybe it's something about Jewish-American lit!? Too many people are just unaware!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Sure, the man writes well!. His The Human Stain had some of the best writing on being old and on Bill Clinton that I've read!. My only regret is that he isn't my age, as much of his writing seems more topical than timeless if you understand what I mean!. That is, I can read his older books, but they're so particular to the time, that I don't get as much out of them as I should!.
