Question: Yet another fantasy series where the hero has special powers!?

I've been writing a fantasy series, and in it, the main character has powers that he got by getting something, so he was not born with it!. These powers also cannot be used too much or they will stop working and will weaken him!.

So I'm wondering, do you think this sounds too cliche!. I know it's not original, but I want to know if people think it is just too overdone to be worth using!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Probably half the fantasy books out there include some sort of special powers!. Special powers in and of themselves are not cliche!. They are a good building block of fantasy fiction!.

The hero with super powers story becomes cliche if that is all there is!. Hero on a quest uses super powers and destroys evil, or saves the kingdom!. That is cliche!. Try to create some sort of unexpected and fresh twist to the idea!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think this is too bad!. I mean it isn't the most original thing in the world but on the other hand that really depends on the rest of the book!. Not every thing in it has to be original for the overall story to be so!. It is also a plus that he's not just born special and 'chosen' and all the rest, cause man that is getting old!. You know, cliche doesn't always make something bad!. I'm a fantasy writer and it's rather difficult to come up with a truly unique storyline without borrowing elements from any other novels or stories!. So if you can take your idea and at least put a unique spin on it, that's something!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well it was used in one movie i remember!. the covent or the covenant!. but naw!. it makes a good story cuz hell only use it when he really has to!. but if i were you id try a different approach!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hell you could have something as cheesy as a 'love shield*' and pull it off if it's done in the right way!.
