Question: Looking for fantasy book recs based on narration style
I wasn't sure how to sum up my question in a single line, so I hope the explanation here will clear things up!. :)

I really enjoy novels where it feels like the story is physically being told by someone!. I don't mean the typical third person view that most books have, but rather like an actual person who is not a character in the book is sitting down and "speaking" to you!. The prose is more casual and conversational!. For example:

The Hobbit - Tolkein
Eyes of the Dragon - King
Stardust - Gaiman
The Wind in the Willows - Grahame

Stories told in this style just take me back in time!. I really enjoy them and would like to read more - preferably fantasy though I'm not adverse to genres!. It doesn't matter if they're YA or adult!.

Thanks in advance!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Lol love the Twilight jab!.

My favorite is "Split Infinity" by Piers Anthony!. It is in third person, but it's basically the experiences and perceptions of one character - he is, essentially, the narrator!. It's fantasy (can't beat a book with unicorns!)

also consider "The Green Rider" by Kristen Britain; fantasy again!. I'm obsessed with horses, so you'll notice the common theme in both!.

Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Seeing as how you're a fantasy reader, you've probably already read them: The Chronicles of Narnia!.

C!.S!. Lewis narrates very conversationally and pauses every once in while to tell the reader something, using pronouns like "I" and "you!."
His writing is very easy to get lost in, and The Chronicles of Narnia are absolutely wonderful!. And they're not just for children; all the books are allegorical, so it's another deeper layer for older readers to think about!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

th forgoten realms, drizzt series focus mainly on the actions of one character!. he doesnt talk directly to you but they are amazing stories!. look for the icewind dale trilogy by R!.A!. Salvatore!. i believe the first book is called The Crystal ShardWww@QuestionHome@Com

Best suggestions:

The Sword in the Stone by T H White (second only to Tolkien!)
The Once and Future King by T H White
Steinbeck's "Arthur" novel
Mrs!. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH

Most of these are summarized at the link below
