For one thing 9, 10, and 11 year olds need to be reading MG books! It's a YA book for a freaking reason!

I am sick of people saying how Meyer is irresponsible for writing what she wrote!. I don't like the woman's writing skills, but I will not have people speak about my precious YA as though it's meant for mentally retarded children!.

Every topic you can imagine is YA if it's written in a teen voice!. That includes sex!. And yes, it was ridiculous that Meyer sugar-coated that!.

EDIT: To first poster: How would you feel if you had written an amazing series and you planned to have a sex scene in your book, but you had to cancel it because a bunch of little kids decided to start reading your book!. You'd be pretty pissed, especially if your book was meant for YOUNG ADULTS!.!.!.not little elementary schoolers who should be reaing Charlotte's Web!. It's the responsiblity of the parents to ensure that what their kids are reading is safe!.!.!.not the author's!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think she was trying to be responsible!.
She has alot of young readers and by young, I mean 9, 10, 11, etc!.
Not just teenagers!.

EDIT: Aki, I agree completely that it is the responsibility of the parents, and if I were a parent I know I would not have my child under the age of 15 reading the Twilight series, but not all parents are responsible unfortunately, SM is probably doing what she can to absorb some of that!. Although, again, it is NOT her responsibility, she is choosing to do so!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stephenie is a mormon!.
She's not going to go into a lot of detail about that!.
I was actually suprised she put in as much as she did!.

Some people would get a little creeped out by a three-page long sex scene!. It's supposed to be a young adult novel, not some morbid porno novel!.

But I do get what you're saying!. It just would'nt fit into the young adult genre!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, Stephenie Meyer is writing a book for young readers, so parents would have disapproved probably!.

But she didn't even put sex in her adult book!. Maybe because of her religion or beliefs!.

I think it was the right thing for her to do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree!. She made it fast for obvious reasons, because of the young readers!.!. but, it could have been passion and romance!.

Making it brief- it appeared perverted and full of lust!. I hated that she did that!.!.

I think it would be okay either way!. There would probably be a lot more complaints about the book if there were details though!. Steph was probably thinking about the age group of her fans (and maybe their parents too)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I THINK IT WAS GUD that she skipped it
it would be like
"i felt his sweet honey breath creeping towrads me 'harderr" i pleaded to edward!. blah blah"Www@QuestionHome@Com

i didnt think it really hurt anything but since all the kissing was in detail i would have thought it to be normal!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.ya i would have wished she wrote moreWww@QuestionHome@Com

shes really religious too so that kinda censored things up a bit!.
