It starts in Afghanistan in 1975 (I believe) and then the main character moves to America as a young man!. He briefly returns to Afghanistan as an adult, and then ultimately returns to America!. I think the book ends in America in about 2001!. If I remember correctly, September 11th is mentioned near the end!. I read that book over a year ago, though!.!.!.
