Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Joan Crawford was much younger when she adopted the older two and less mature!. She made mistakes which led to abuse!. She focused that abuse on the two older kids!. The twins were probably sheltered from it by their older siblings and Joan's own realization that it was wrong and her attempts not to do it!. I is very clear through Christina's juvenile writing style she was trying to get back at a mother who refused to let her children turn into spoiled hollywood brats!. There are several accounts on Christina and Christopher's behavior, as children and as adults, that they are both very bitter they weren't allowed every luxury their selfish hearts desired!. Both have been by many accounts rotten kids anyway, after the book was released boatloads of people who knew Joan Crawford say the book is yet another way for Christina to attempt to ride her mother coat tails and her friends defended Joan Crawford adamantly!. Cindy and Cathy were better behaved thus got less harsh discipline!. You have to remember in those days spankings were normal as well as other disciplinary actions such as going to bed without dinner or not being allowed to play with friends when there was school work to be done or thank you notes to be written after a holiday!. She may not have been the perfect mother but given the consistent naughtiness from the older two she had no other option but to be harsher on the ungrateful brats Www@QuestionHome@Com It is not rare to find children within a family treated differently!. A few years back a young girl was killed by her mother and stepfather after suffering extensive abuse from them (this was here in NY)!. The trial was highly publicized not only because of the nature of the abuse but also because it was a blatant case of negligence on the part of Family Services, which had received reports about the abuse!. There were other children in the family and not a single one of the others was ever the victim of abuse in the household!. Frankly, I have no idea why that may be, but things like that happen on a daily basis all over the country!.Www@QuestionHome@Com There is the possibility that she was nicer to the two younger children than to the older ones!. Or there is the possibility that the older ones have exaggerated the things that happened in order to gain publicity for themselves!.
