"Johnny U: The Life and Times of John Unitas" by Tom Callahan is excellent!. Obviously about Johnny U, but also an in-depth look on how players from the 40s and 50s played for the love of the game, and obviously not the money, how they had jobs during the off-seasons, how Unitas would do extra work after the games -- and then some!.

"Pistol: The Life of Pete Maravich" by Mark Kriegal!. I love this book because Pete Maravich is one of my favorite basketball players of all time (even though I never did get to watch him play live, and he died a few years before I was even born) -- this book talks about his playing style, his relationship with his dad, and, oh, it also has stats in the back of the book!. What more could you ask for!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
