Question: Why do people say "Twilight" is beating "Harry Potter"!?
Ok!.!.The "Twilight Saga" has only sold 8 million copies!.
Harry Potter has sold over 400 million copies!. One of the Harry Potter books, you can pick whichever, has sold more than the whole "Twilight Saga"!.

As for the movies, we don't know yet, but I assure you that "Twilight" will not beat "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince"!. Everyone talks about how bad the last movie was, but the last movie was the second best earning "Harry Potter" movie worldwide with $938!.5 million!. It's ranked number 6 all time worldwide!. The first "Harrry Potter" is ranked number 4 all time worldwide!. I highly doubt "Twlight" will gross near that!. All 5 are ranked in the top 20 all time worldwide!. Need proof!? Click below!.

I agree!. I don't believe that Twilight will beat out Harry Potter!. I mean, Harry Potter was a success to begin with and every book after that was a success!. Twilight's success is just rolling in and the last book is less than a week away!. If it was going to beat Harry Potter it should've started three books ago!.
Twilight is a phenomenon because all these rabid-fan girls go around parading the books on the internet and it gets confusing because most of them are all the same!. However, Harry Potter is a phenomenon because it appeals to everyone and can appeal to anyone!. Frankly I'm insulted they even tagged Twilight as the new Harry Potter!. It's sad that if the public shows a bit of interest in a book it's instantly tagged as the new Harry Potter!. Who comes up with this anyways!?
Twilight is probably a success partly due to the fact that Harry Potter's reign was nearing its end by the time Twilight came out!. Otherwise, well, the books would be in the dust!. Comparing the two to begin with was just absolutely silly!. They're completely two different sets of books--the subject matter are completely different!. Just because something's tagged as fantasy it doesn't mean it's in any way related to Harry Potter!.
Besides!.!.!.and I'll say this one more time!. Most of the fans of the Twilight Saga are girls!. Harry Potter was for everyone!. Unless Twilight instantly becomes the new Harry Potter to adults and males!.!.!.it ain't got much of a chance!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I doubt that Twilight will ever have the universal popularity of Harry Potter, because the Twilight books are designed specifically to appeal to teenage girls, whereas the Harry Potter books have a much wider appeal!.
I didn't know the last Harry Potter movie was considered bad, I am surprised, I thought it was excellent!. Especially Imelda Staunton who gave a marvellous performance as Dr Umbridge, and Helena bonham Carter was wonderful as batty Bellatrix!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I dont get why it has to be a fight!. I love Edward Cullen and Harry Potter!. I think both series have literary merit!. In terms of romance, Twilight is superior only because The Harry Pottter series wasnt written as a romance!. Of course Twilight won't outsell Harry Potter!. It never will!. Harry Potter books are so popular, loved by millions around the world!.
Some people just think Twilight is better than HP!. I don't think you should be angry about that!. Today at school I heard a girl saying that Twilight was heaps better than HP {and she was a majorly obsessed HP fan!!}
It's all about personal preference!. I plan to read Twilight soon because I've heard it's great, but I don't think anything will really beat HP for me!.!.!.

The concept of 'beating' one another is not just about money, mate!. If it was I'm sure that Half-Blood Prince would win, but it still doesn't mean they will actually make a decent Harry Potter film!. (I love the books; the movies just haven't impressed me at all!. All this talk about splitting DH into two movies [which is ONLY a way of making more money] is ridiculous!. They say they can't put all the detail in in a shorter film when they already sacrificed the other six!. But I digress!.!.!.)
All that people have been really saying is that various Twilight books have all knocked Harry Potter off the Bestsellers' top spot when they were released!. I haven't heard any one saying that the film will gross more than Harry Potter or anything like that!. It probably won't!. I agree with Lily 100%, I've stated the same fact at least 20 times on here!. The only thing Harry has in common with Twilight is the Fantasy element, and the YA catagory, if you want to go that far!. As a fan of both, I have to say the clear winner is Harry Potter, popularity wise, but money has nothing to do with it! Harry Potters literary reign is over!. It was over July 21, 2007!. Twilight is newer and still has sequels to come, thats why its so popular!. It's really an amazing book, that a lot of people who HAVENT read it tend to criticize!.
As far as the movies go, [they never are as good as the books are they!?] I think Twilight will do exceptional, not only will fans of the books turn out, but just as Harry Potter before it, people will see it who havent read the books!. We will have to see, but I predict it will do well, Twilight has a similarly devoted fan base as Harry Potter!. I will see, and hopefully enjoy both opening day!. =]Www@QuestionHome@Com
Please understand that HP's reign over English literature is almost over, although I too wish it would never end!. All the books are released, as are almost all the films; almost all the money JKR can squeeze out of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe & Co, and whatever novels she can dream to write relating to HP has been wrung out!.
Yet, Twilight doesn't exactly have the potential of being more popular, since it is directed at vampire-obsessed teenage girls who love vampires!. Incidentally, I am one of them!. I highly doubt any male will pick Twilight, New Moon, and/or Eclipse off a shelf and read it all in 2 days, as I have!. And judging by the trailer, the Twilight movie seems to be about as successful as Eragon!. Which wasn't!.
Harry Potter, however, is directed at people of almost all ages: little munchkins, not-so-little munchkins, young teens, teen-teens, adults, and even seniors!. The films were made almost alike to the readers' imagination!. (At least, they matched mine!. Almost!.)
HalfBloodPrince, I highly recommend you to read Twilight for yourself, and see why some people are saying that its beating HP, although you would look rather odd if you were to read it in public!. However all the success Twilgiht will reap, HP will still be a great icon in English literature, of Shakespearean and Jane Austen-esque heights; that I can assure you!.
