A lot of people ask for specific lengths of chapters, but the truth is there isn't any!. they want set rules for writing, but there can't be, becasue all books are different!. The best time to change a chapter is when you start a new scene or a new day!. Example being if they are at the beach and you want to skip right up to the next day at the coffeshop, then you might switch chapters!. Some author's do their chapters differently, such as in the book Leftovers by Laura Weiss, the chapters switch each time a new person starts telling the story!. You can be creative with the chapters because its YOUR book!. good luck :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

A book is like a journal or diary!. Your entries are chapters!. Some authors like to end chapters with a lot of questions unanswered and a lot of drama going on!. This is called a cliff hanger meant to leave the reader at the edge of their seat in anticipation wanting to read more!. After something bad happens like a death or something authors sometimes throw a funny of happy chapter in the book called comic relieve!. Every chapter is like a little story!. When combined with the other chapters it makes a book or a novel!. Try telling a little story in every chapter and then ending it and almost picking it up in the next chapter, but also let the next chapter tell its own story as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well, I guess when you need to start a new one you just know!.!.!.

but it could be like when its a new day, or when a long time amount of time has passed!.

also when something is about to happen and you want to built suspense by leaving off on a part and then continuing it in the next chapter!.

you should try to make sure that the differences in chapter lengths aren't too big unless it's something important!. like don't make one chapter 37 pages and the next 5 or something!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is a question only you can answer!. Chapter lengths depend completely on the writer and the book itself!. What feels right to you!? If I were to read what you have so far, I might be able to give you a suggestion, but it is only the author's decision!. Sometimes books have sentence-long chapters!. Others go on for pages and pages!. It is simply whatever feels right to you, and you alone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A chapter is like!.!.!. a specific time, or day, you know!? So say I'm writing a story about a dog who runs away!. In chapter 1 the dog plans the escape, and he'll talk to his sqirrel friends about it, and try to be sure about the choice!. But when that's all over, and he is sure about leaving, next chapter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

when the main part of the chapter ends or whens the main part is about to happen!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I can't explain it- it's mostly common sense really!. But a book doesn't have to have chapters, just so you know!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
