So I'm at the part where Bella and Alice are about to go to Italy to tell Edward that Bella is alive!. But I don't understand what Volturi is and what control they have over Edward's death!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Volturi is a family of royalty!. They pretty much prevent vampires from taking control over humans!. They are the biggest coven in the Vampire Universe, and prevent vampires from bieng exposed!. So if Edward exposes himself, the Volturi has the right to kill him!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Volturi are a group of powerful vampires, chosen for having gifts like Edward's mind reading and Alice's precognition!. The leaders of the Volturi are the family that Carlisle encountered long ago but chose to leave because they drink human blood!.

They are sort of like the royal family of vampires!. They make sure no one reveals them to the humans!. So they're also sort of like police officers!. If Edward does something to reveal that vampires are real to humans, they will kill him to prevent it!.

In the beginning of the book, Edward tells Bella that the Volturi are like Vampire Royalty!. They make sure all the vampires follow the rules-- in other words, they make sure the vampires stay hidden!. They are "in charge"!. They keep the peace!. They are a group of vampires that live in Italy!. They're 3,000 years old!.

Edward went to the Volturi and asked them to kill him!. They refused, so he decides to do something that will force the Volturi into acting against him!. If he breaks the rules, the Volturi have to stop him!. It's part of the job description!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Edward went to the Volturi - if he asked Alice, or Jasper, or Emmett to kill him, they'd most likely say no!. He doesn't have to go to Italy, but I think he went there because if he just got killed by a random vampire (if he could find one), it might've made a mess!. Plus, Alice would've seen it!. Getting killed by the Volturi, I'm thinking would've been easier!. But, this part was my opinion!. I've never really thought about it before, though!. Plus, as others said: if Edward did something to irritate the Volturi, or better yet, endanger the secret (vampires cannot exist to humans) they've been working so hard to keep!.!.!.well, secret, then they'll HAVE to kill him!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Volturi are a very old and powerful vampire family!. They are sort of royal you know!. Well (according to the story) you don't irritate them unless you want to die!. By irritate I mean expose the vampire secrets in front of humans!. So, because Edward wanted to die (of course because of Bella) he went to Italy and since they refused to kill him he decided to expose himself i!.e irritate the Volturi and die!.

If a vampire wants to die, they ask the Volturi or they do somthing to make the Volturi mad, like revealing vampires exist or killing many people in one place and being carless about it!. The Volturi is like vampire royalty!. There one of the biggest groups of vampires living together!. They have many guards and protectors with special talents like edward and alice's!.

Their job is basically to keep vampires a secret to humans and wipe out all vampires who threaten to expose the secret that vampire are real!. They are feared because they are so powerful!.
