I'm taking honors English this upcoming school year (11th grade), and these are two books that I know we are reading next year, and I'm going to read them before school starts!. Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: both of them are really good i suggest starting with scarlet letter, then gatsby b/c gatsby is more humorous and seems more contemporary however, i caution you on reading the books beforehand!. while its great to read lots of classic literature, there is a reason why these two are covered in class!.!.!.most of the themes/literary devices/styles etc are easier to understand if theyre taught!. also, when i took that class last year, we had tons of tests and essays over them that required minute details!. i would wait until you read them in classWww@QuestionHome@Com I think you should start with The Scarlet Letter simply because it's the hardest of the two to understand and it'll be better just to go ahead and get it out of the way!. Plus it'll save the best for last!.!.!.!.
