It depends on the character, for me!.
I think that a character can never be too developed; the whole point of writing is to make the reader believe that the characters are real people and care about what happens to them so they keep on reading!. Good luck!

There is no limit!. You have to give the characters complete lives - you should know them as well as you know your best friends!. How much could you write about your best friend!? Probably pages and pages!. The more you know about your characters, the easier it is to write about them later on!. You will know what decisions they will make, what choices!. It also isn't unusual for me to go back and add more to a character study as I am writing and more things come to mind!. And by the way - things like eye and hair color never enter into my character studies!. You have to get much deeper than that!. The depth and detail of the character study is the difference between a teenage amateur writing knock off vampire stories and a professional author!. Pax-CWww@QuestionHome@Com

It shouldn't be about how many words, but you should keep it short!. Just basically define the character, ONLY important things!. Little details, like what kind of pizza he likes or whatever aren't important at all!. Basically limit it to his background, what his role is in the story, and, if it's possible, why he's doing what he does!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's no limit for me!. It really depends on the character!. Some I know right away, I know what they like and dislike, I can picture them in my head easily!.
Some I kind of "meet along the way"
it really depeds!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally for me, the more I write about a character the more I know about that character! However, you can never write too much or too little!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't write them!. I find them boring to do, limiting and not particularly helpful!.

But whatever you feel helps you!.!.!.write as much or as little as you need!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It all depends on how much you want to tell!. there isn't a set amount, just go with whatever you want to say about them!. good luck :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
