Question: PRIDE AND PREJUDICE! 'a great deal too apt!.!.!.'!?
i have a HUGE summer assignment for PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
in the novel, Elizabeth says that her sister Jane is "a great deal too apt!.!.to like people in general!."
why is this ironic!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
im not entirely sure but i think its to do with the fact that Elizabeth prides herself on being a good judge of character

and she immediately likes Wickham
but hates Darcy
and she is entirely wrong about both!

throughout the novel she must reevaluate all these 'first impressions' of hers!.!. and its funny really because it was Jane who on hearing all the bad stuff about Darcy told Lizzie that perhaps it wasnt all true!.!.etc

hope that helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com

Elizabeth prides herself on judging people and is amused by Jane's preference of liking people!. But Elizabeth also likes Mr Wickham, the profligate, and dislikes Mr Darcy, who, pride aside, is every woman's dream!.
