Question: Does Anyone Remember the Name of this Short Story!?

The story was about a little boy who escaped from reality by escaping into an imaginary snow!. By the end of the story, he was almost completely withdrawn into his own world!.

I read this story years ago, and I'd like to read it again!. As I recall, it was by a fairly well-known author!.

"Silent Snow, Secret Snow," a psychologically in-depth portrayal of a young boy who creates a fictional world that revolves around snow!. Conrad grabs the reader in with intense descriptions of Paul's (the boy) mysterious world, and the beauty and security he finds within it!. The author creatively builds the plot around simplicity (the postman's footsteps), yet in its entirety the story is definitely more than one dimensional!. Author was most likely talking about schizophrenia in the story!. The author had major problem as a young man (his father killed his mother and then himself and Conrad found the bodies) this may have caused his intense introspective view of the world around him!.
