Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: "Lady Luck" is simply the personification of luck or fortune and goes back to the Roman goddess Fortuna!. The Elizabethan audience, living at a time that had recently rediscovered many aspects of classical (ancient Greek and Roman) civilization, would probably have recognized her as such--at least the better educated members!. And the less educated ones would probably at least have known the phrase and the concept behind it, if not the classical association!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
