Question: I need ideas for books for a book club!!?
Technicallly, its not a "club!." My Boyfriend and I want to have our own personal book club :) I really don't read!. The only time I read, was when I had an assignment back in high school!. My major (Dietetics) in college doesn't really require me to read, other than texts books!. The last book I read for fun was about 2 months ago, James Patterson, The Beach House!. I really love this author and can read his books in about a few hours!. I also like romance :)
But my boyfriend really wants us to read very inciteful books about things we can have discussions on!. He's in Medical School (3rd year) so his time is limited, but pretty much anything interests him!.
Any suggestions appreciated, because I don't have the slightest idea where to begin!.

Thank the lord no one's said you-know-what!. (I think it's because all the kiddies went to bed :))

I would recommend "Love Warps the Mind a Little" by John Dufresne!.

also a good book my fiancee and I read was "The Perks of Being a Wallflower!." That's more of a teen book but pretty good book nonetheless!.

They're not too close to James Patterson but I'd say much better (IMO)!. The other answers are good too but I wanted to stray from the crowd a bit!.

I also thought of, since you said your BF doesn't have a lot of time on his hands, a short story collection from an author you both like!. Reading a short story once and a while to each other doesn't take long and if you can't get back to it for a while you won't forget like a book that's one story straight through!. Just a suggestion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Atul Garawande's Complications: Notes on a surgeon's life (may have the subtitle off) is really fascinating!.
The New Yorker has good essays that can be read in small bites and shared cheaply!.
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult is a good medical/ethical dilemma book!.
Tim Obrien's Things they Carried is about the vietnam war, short chapters, powerful stuff!.
DaVinci Code or any Dan Brown is good suspense and thought provoking, too!.
David Sedaris is wickedly funny!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Lovely Bones or My Sister's Keeper are probably the two best books I've ever read, and I read a book every few days, so, that's a lot of books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
