Question: Book Suggestions for an Avid Reader!?
Hi! I've been answering questions and offering book suggestions for a few months, but I've found myself in a sticky spot!. I can't seem to find a book to read for myself!. I have read so much it seems that, at least in the teen fiction section, I've really run out of good reads!.

I've provided a list of some of the books I've read, mostly they're clasics that are contunualy sugested!. I'm looking for something different!. Hopefully something that will make me think and get me caught up in the book!.

also, yes!. I HAVE READ TWILIGHT!. Please, do not suggest it!.

Thanks in advance!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Try "The Eyre Affair: A Thursday Next Novel" by Jasper Fford - there is a total of 4 books so far, and there is even a festival in his honor in England!.

Light reading: Stephanie Plumb series (mystery) , Terry Pratchett!.(sci fi)

"War of the Oaks" by Emma Bull (sci fi section)Www@QuestionHome@Com

My favorite book of all time is a novella called "The Last Summer of Reason" by Tahar Djaout; an Algerian author, poet, and journalist, he was assassinated in 1993 for his fearless defense of secularism in that country!.

This book is definitely something different!. If you love the art of words, it's a must read!. Stunningly beautiful writing!. Its also fairly short, concise, and unbelievably relevant to today's world (though it was written in 1993)!.

You can find it here: http://www!.amazon!.com/Last-Summer-Reason!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi,

I was reading over your list and saw that you have a lot of classics (like the Iliad) thrown in with a lot of children's books like the Skeleton Key!. Perhaps the best happy medium would be a book like 100 Years of Solitude!. Gabriel Garcia Marquez has written in a lot of magical and surreal passages, and I remember thinking when I was reading it that I hadn't been as captivated by a book since I had read Harry Potter six or seven years ago!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

How about diving into Fyodor Dostoyevsky!? Try Notes From Underground or Crime and Punishment to start, and then advance to The Idiot, Demons and The Brothers Karamozov!. These are 19th century Russian books, the later ones rather long, but they are timeless and endlessly relevant to the development of humanity!. They are also very exciting and often rather vicious!. I would recommend translations by either Andrew MacAndrew or, the more recent translations by Richard Pevar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
