Most of what I have read as of late has been kiddie series!. Pre-reading it before I read the books to my daughter!. I'm getting a bit tired of the kiddie stuff!. lolWww@QuestionHome@Com

It really depends, of course, on types of books you like to read!. Many of the other posters read "kiddie series" and made an assumption that you like fantasy books!. They have given you some very good ideas of some adult fantasy you may like to pursue!. May I add:

Patrick Rothfuss "The Name of the Wind"!. This is the most original fantasy book I have read in a very long time!. The writing is amazing !.!.!. this author could have been the next Great American Author if he hadn't chosen fantasy as his format!.

If, however, you are looking for "adult" books from any genre, I may recommend a few others:

Gabriel Garcia Marquez "100 Years of Solitude"!. If you haven't read this, I would highly recommend it!. As an English major, I will tell you that this is probably the greatest book I have ever read!. Subjectivity is rampant in any book recommendation, but I truly think that this is the one novel every person should read!. If you asked me why, I probably couldn't say; except, it is important, beautiful, and writing at its best!.

Christopher Moore "Dirty Job"!. One of the few books I have read that actually had me laughing out loud!. In this book a beta-male (you have to read it, but basically think of the majority of men who aren't lantern-jawed heroes) becomes an agent of the incarnation of death!. Super good stuff!.

Kurt Vonnegut "Cats Cradle"!. Vonnegut always road a very thin line!. Literary nuts thought he was too sci-fi!. Sci-fi nuts thought he was too literary!. Still, everyone ended up loving him!. This is one of his best!

Don DeLillo "Underworld": If you want to feel adult, this is the novel for you!. I don't know if you have ever explored post-modern writing, but this book typifies the style!. I found it amazing, but it's very heavy!. Not only is adult, but it adds some years on to your life!.

John Hart "Down River": This falls into the mystery genre, but it is more than that!. Modern, weighty and very interesting!.

Norman Mailer "Executioners Song"!. Most people have heard of Mailer!. This is his best writing!. A huge book that tackles so many literary themes!. What makes it so unbelievable is that is so very approachable!.

Finally, if you are looking for something really "adult", I would recommend Ann Rice's "Sleeping Beauty" series!. Writing under a pseudonym of Roquelaure, this is some pretty perverse sexual stuff!. Not recommended for everyone, but I really liked it!.

I could keep writing all night!. But I think that above offers you a nice starting point!. My wife and I are having our first child in October!. Can't wait to start reading all of that kiddie series stuff to him/her!. But the books I listed above are the ones I will come back to when I am looking for an "adult" fix!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Sword of Truth Series

each of these and more play a part in the story and are examined and revealed for what they are and what they mean!.
The author writes with a clear sense of right and wrong and fills the books with unyeilding logic and inspiring hope and clarity!.

Read anything by Barbara Kingsolver!. She is my favorite author, and her books are what I call "intelligent chick-lit"!. If you want humor, you have GOT to read "Marley and Me", the movie is coming out in Dec, but it could'nt possibly be as funny as the book!. I've never laughed so hard while reading in my life!.
