Question: Why don't kids start Hogwarts earlier!?
Even though Harry is in a Muggle family, when he went to Hogwarts at first the first years were all his age!? Why didn't he start out with the one year olds!? I thought he was being held back by the Muggles while all the magic families make their kids go to magic school as babies!. What do they do if they don't go to muggle school for the first part of their life if they're not at Hogwarts!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hmm!.!.!. I'm thinking if you REALLY want to know, you should break into J!.K!. Rowling's house, pin her down, and ask her yourself!. If she doesn't call the cops, then maybe you two can even be friends!. And when you two are chatting over tea in her garden, remember who sparked the relationship and throw in a good word for me!. Cheers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They do, i'm almost positive Hermionie did, and Harry did until he started accedintly using his magic!. The Weasley children were all homeschooled as most magic folk are, up until age 11, the first year at Hogwarts!. I mean think about it, most 5 year olds just arent advanced enough to understand things, so they couldnt understand how to do magic!. You have to mean it, and think about it, and move your wand a certian way, its just not possible for a child at that age!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think this is how it works!.
Magical kids in primary school go to a normal Muggle primary school with other young wizards and Muggles!. When they reach 11 they go to Hogwarts!. This provides them with a basic understanding of things like Maths, English and Science so they can go to Hogwarts at least knowing the basics!.
Otherwise wizard kids wouldn't know anything like 2+2 because they haven't had basic learning!.
At Hogwarts they don't learn Maths, English and Science so they need a basic understanding of them from Muggle primary schoolWww@QuestionHome@Com

There were no toddlers at Hogwarts!. All the wizards-to-be went to muggle school!. There I assume, because Rowling doesn't say, they learned reading, writing and 'rithmetic!. Little kids not only need to learn the alphabet at an early age in school!.

At school they also need to learn to how to get along with other kids!. As wizards, they also slowly learned what special powers they may have before formal training!. Most 'youngster wizards' probably learned a bit about those powers at home, unlike HP, who had to first experience his abilities as 'wishes,' at the zoo with the Dursleys!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

J!.K!. Rowling may have answered this in an interview!. If so, you'll find the information on her web site, at Mugglenet!.com, or at the Leaky Lounge!.

What I remember her saying is that wizard children are home-schooled to learn reading, writing, arithmetic, wizarding history and legends!. Some of the basics of their education, in other words, and the things they need to know about living in wizard society!.

They go to Hogwarts at 11 because that is when their magic powers begin to become active and consciously controllable!. Although Harry was raised in a Muggle family and other classmates were raised in wizard families, none of the children had any real experience using magic until they got to Hogwarts!. Harry may not have known about wizard society or wizard history, but his knowledge of magic and his ability to use magic were typical of any 11-year-old wizard!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In goblet of fire, when Harry is at the Quiditch world cup, you see a minor aged kid who's stolen hes dads wand and trys to practice magic on a slug!.!. much to the slugs dismay it either grows larger or pops!.!.or inflates [sorry but I havnt read GOF in awile] by this it shows that younger children cant perform magic until theyve studied it at hogwarts, not all children are the same age!.!. for your information, Hermione is one year older than Harry and Ron shes a few months shy [in january I think] of her 12th birthday thus she is still 11 and is still accepted into Hogwarts, so no there is no wizadry pre-school hop eI answered your QuestionWww@QuestionHome@Com

the Dursleys were trying not to let harry go 2 hogwarts but that isnt why he only went at 11!. before 11yrs, as the others hav said, kids are still 2 young 2 control and manage their powers!. therefore they are taught the basics first at primary school and later wen older taught magic and how to use and control their powers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sending little kids off to boarding school for all but two months out of the year is pretty mean!. I know a family where both parents travel for their jobs, and their daughter has been in boarding school since age 6!. I would not want to be in her place for anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

lol, "he should start with the 1 year olds", like anyone goes to Hogwarts before age 11 (maybe 10 depends on bday)Www@QuestionHome@Com

They dont really need to go beforehand, because they're just little kids, and honestly, who sends their one year olds!?
They have to be there around 11 because that's when I suppose they get some kind of 'magical puberty'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They can attend a muggle public school, but most, like the Weasley children, are homeschooled until they are ready to leave for Hogwarts or another wizarding academy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If their parents sent them to hogwarts at too young of an age, then the kids would hardly know their own families, only living with them for a few years!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hogwarts is like secondary school to us it doesn't how clever you are you start the in year were every one else is the same age as you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was just in the story of Harry Potter and a baby must learn first to talk before anything else then for education then may be magic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hogwarts starts at elementary school age!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

At 7 kids begin showing magic powers but, some like Neville don't develop any till 10!. So they could start at 4 but!.!. they'd sit around a room like some Muggles!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

because they arent issued to be able to use their magic under cintroll untill they are 13Www@QuestionHome@Com

they don't start early because they are to young!. like us starting school around 5 or 6 of age!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
