Question: In Harry Potter!.!.!.!?

How does a wizard become a ghost!? I know that In Book 5 Nearly Headless Nick vaguely explains that a wizard will become a ghost if he fears death, but we all know the Bloody Baron killed himself!.
For one to fear death enough to become a ghost but kill himself doesn’t really make much sense!. There must be more factors that contribute to having a wizard come back as a ghost!.!. What do you think!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree that there is some "choice", though I am not certain that wizards have the option to make that choice *after* they are dead!. Myrtle, for example, returned to haunt Olive Hornby, but we don't know if she chose to be a ghost for that reason, or if her desire for revenge against Olive caused her to remain on earth!. Likewise for NH Nick - clearly he feared death, but surely he did not fear it **after** he was dead and decide to stay!? I think that feat that he held *before* his death caused him to remain!. The baron, likewise, his guilt (I think) caused him to remain, though it may be that he is simply a stalker and remains because Helena remains as a ghost!.

SO, I think that any wizard who would *prefer* to remain on earth as a ghost while they are alive (for whatever reason) becomes a ghost upon their death!. *I* think that the choice is made in this life!.

Well, I always thought the Bloody Baron became a ghost because the Grey Lady did!. I always figured that since he loved her, he decided he couldn't spend eternity without her!. So that's why he became a ghost!.

I don't think you have to "fear" death to become a ghost!. I think you have the option!. If you want to, you can!. If you don't want to, you can go on!. But generally those who becomes ghosts do so because they were afraid of dying!. It's like in DH-- when Harry "dies", Dumbledore tells him he has the option of either actually dying and going on, or going back!. So maybe it's the same thing with ghosts-- they "die", then have the option of going back or going on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I only think a wizard becomes a ghost only if he chooses to come back to the earth!.!. Many who are dead wants to 'go on forever' thats what is mentioned in the book ,isnt it!?According to the book,only a few chooses this ghost path !.!.

You are asking about Bloody Baron,Ok let me make a few guesses 1) Maybe the Grey Lady does not wish to see her dead mother out of shame ,so she chose the Ghost path
2) Baron who loves her wanted to be with her,Maybe thats why he too became a ghost!.!.!.

i think tha tit has to do with how your life was!. for example if your life was incomplete when you were a human than you would come back as a ghost!. the bloody Baron was in love with the gray lady and upset that he killed her so he came back as a ghost and now wears those chains as a form of remorse!.

if your life is incomplete of if you are not yet at peace then you would probably choose to come back!. Dumbeldoor had a good life and made sure that before he died that everything was prepared and so he moved on!. like hoe said 'Death is but the next great adventure'Www@QuestionHome@Com

when they come back as a ghost, yes they fear death enough to not die completely, but there soul stays alive and there body dies!. they could also become a ghost so they can stay with a loved one or by grief of killing someone or of them doing a bad deed!. like the bloody baron, he killed the rowena ravenclaw's daughter because she would not come back with him and then he felt remorse for what he did so he killed himself and stayed as a ghost to be with her because she became a ghost too!. if there was anything else to be going on with them becoming ghost i dont know!. i am a HUGE harry potter fan and i think what i said is a good answer!. i hope this helped you!. also be free to ask me any Harry Potter questions because as you no i am a HUGE fan!!!! =)

I think every wizard experiences something like king's Cross where they make the choice to stay or move on!. Happy people accept their death as the end of their time and move on but, the miserable and fearful are afraid of future pain and seek comfort in the world they know!. The fear of the unknown keeps them from passing fully!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

if you recal nearly headless nick wanted to join that club thing but he had to be headless!.
and he never became headless!.
the ghost of ravenclaw felt bad for stealing her mothers dahilm or whatever so she stayed to protect it!.

I think it is a result of two things: one they fear death, but they also feel they have unfinished business back on earth!.
