To all Meyer's creation's fans, I was thinking: Is Twilight a real demonstration of good-writing or is it loved by teens only for the plot concerning themes like romance and teen-love!? ThanksWww@QuestionHome@Com

I hate to be blunt regarding a book with such a large and vocal fandom, but the writing in Twilight is mediocre at best!. I think it has such rampant popularity because it's sort of a tween-to-teen appropriate harlequin romance novel!. (In other words, pardon my French, ultra soft-core vampire porn)

Case in point, I read it and didn't think too much of it, but I've heard all my girl friends ranting about how "hot" Edward Cullen seems to be, (Or Jacob, some prefer Jacob!.) and perhaps not coincidentally, how they can't wait for the next book to come out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, if you honestly think about it, I don't know if twilight is actually GOOD writing, like some other famous novels!.!.!.like Jane Austen!.!.!.
however-it definately is loved by teens AND ADULTS for the romance!.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a definately twilight fanatic, but I'm not going INSANE!.

I think I agree with Trever on this!. Its not that brilliant! I read the first to see what the fuss was about and I didn't have the urge to get the rest at all!. I am not a teen though at 48, but I love books and have a huge collection!.

I have a lot of books in series form and most of the ones I have I couldn't wait to get the next one!. I was in the queue at WH Smiths at midnight to get one of the Harry Potter books, I wouldn't do that for any of the Twighlight books!. I have the HP on audio and all the films too and have been known to take a sickie to read one of the books!

The characters are very odd vampires and have no real appeal like the old vampire films and stories!. I like vampires to be searched out and stakes through hearts! The best vampire book I have read is Salem's Lot by Stephen King! I have all his and buy his books as soon as they come out no questions asked!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, it's defiantly both!. Stephenie Meyer definatly has skills!. Though the idea is good, it would be horrible without her!. Like she descirbes it the characters talk to her, and tell her about themselves!. You wouldn't be able to mock or parody her writing skills!. The way she knows what to say at the moment!. The way she puts comedy in at the serious parts, she is truley gifted!. With writting skills, and ideas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's definitely not good writing!.
I say this as someone who has read fantasy for nigh-on forty years, and whose reading is hardly confined to fantasy!.

I've seen it describe here as :
"OMG!!! it is the best book in the whole entire world!. yes u totally should!! :) " [read Twilight]

Well to be quite honest!.!.!.It's only loved because of it's themes and plot!. It's really bad writing actually!. But alot of people (myself included) love the Twilight series because it's something different, a love story that involves so many other factors like danger, trust, and morals!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The way of writing (dialogue, etc) is pretty simple, but I think what makes it a real demonstration of good writing is the story itself!.!.!. Just because there isn't crazy intellectual wording doesn't mean that the emotion isn't real and the characters don't matter!.!.!.

i would say its both because the book is actually well-written and stephenie meyer is a great author, even the host is a great book!. What makes twilight such a hit would also be the plot with the romance and also suspense and mystery that Meyer incorporates into itWww@QuestionHome@Com

Well, For me it is both, but one way you can tell for yourself is by reading The Host!. If you like her writing, you will be in love with this book as much as you are with Twilight!. I think Stephenie Meyers writing are truly something to be admired and worshiped!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Romance and theme!. I love the twilight books but while reading them sometimes i wonder am i really actually reading this!? While she does use some high end vocabulary the writing isnt that good and the characters dont seem to have a lot of depth!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
