Question: Ending of Potter Series too cheery!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Not really!. I didn't mind the cheeriness of the HP ending!. The only thing that I didn't like about the end was the epilogue!. Rowling only told us that Harry and Ginny get married and have kids and same thing with Ron and Hermione!. I wanted to know more about Neville, Luna, the rest of the Weasleys and what happened to Hogwarts!. It felt as though she was rushing through the end!. But there's not much we can do now!. It's still one of my fav books, I love it!.

Lissa, I think your a little behind the times if you're still getting angry at people for saying stuff about the Deathlt Hallows ending!. It's been like a year since it was released!. Many people have read and reread it already!.

Ultimately, Harry Potter was a children's book!. I think it needs to end with a happy ending because of that!. There was so many sad things that happen, and I realize that life isn't fair and that not everything has a happy ending, I think that this had to!. I think many people may have liked Harry to die, he complained too much, but I think that they all knew he would live!.
It was pretty much set out in the first book, at the end of the series Voldermort would perish, and Harry would live a happy life with his two best friends!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I don't think it was too cheery at all!.

I mean, after reading book after (awesome) book about all these bad things happening, it is an inevitable outcome!.

Would it have made sense for everyone around Harry to have given up their lives for him to die!? Spending their whole lives protecting him, just to fulfill a prophecy that he is going to die!?

Well, I don't think it would have worked out too well!. Personally, I would have had a hollow feeling inside!. One side sort of thinks he should have died, mainly because it would have made it seem much more epic, but it wouldn't have worked out as well, I think!.

Though it would have appealed to the romantic senses, wouldn't it have!? If he had died!? A young boy, spending his whole life with only a select key few moments of true happiness, his fate locked by a prophecy, a prophecy that states he would never have true happiness!?!?

But then again!.!.!.!.I think that's even more predictable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I don't think Harry should have died, that would have depressed everyone too much!. I was terribly upset over the death of Fred Weasley, I really wish she hadn't killed him off!. Snape and Remus Lupin's deaths didn't surprise me, I always thought both of them were marked for tragedy!.

I didn't like the epilogue though, I didn't really want to know what everyone was doing nineteen years in the future, I think some things should be left to the imagination!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, it's my personal opinion that Harry probably should have died - and stayed that way, but not in the manner that Rowling went about it!.

However, for the sake of the story, I'm glad he lived!. And can you imagine the fan outrage if he had actually stayed dead!? Everyone was torn between his life and death, and - miraculously - Rowling managed both!. You can't please everyone, but she did a pretty good job, I have to say!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Eh, it might have been a LITTLE cheery, but, honestly, I wasn't too surprised Harry survived!. Don't get me wrong; I was glad he did!. And, besides, I figured he would anyway!. Think of it this way: The series is a total cash cow for J!.K!. Rowling!. No way in heck would she kill off the character who's making her millions!. On another note, I could have done without the epilogue!. Harry lived; we got that!. He married Ginny, and Ron married Hermione, and they all had kids and lived happily ever after!. I'm sure we would have deduced this without it being included in the actual story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Um Lisa, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been out for almost if not more than 12 months!. I think you're being a bit unrealistic!. Where do you live!? I can't believe people have kept the ending away from you for a whole 12 months!.

I both loved and loathed the ending!. I didn't want Snape to die, but then there were a ton of characters, eg!. Tonks&Remus who I didn't want to die either!.

I think she did quite well!. It must have been very hard!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I thought that the final battle was a bit too easy!.!.!.but it's probably good that she didn't kill Harry off!. I thought he would die, but it's not a good idea to kill off the main character in a children's book!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally I think it would have been a great ending if she had killed off Harry!. It would have been sad and depressing but I think it would have made the series even more remarkable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

J!.K!. is swimming is cash!. She can do whatever she wants!. I think he should have died before the first book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
