Well, I just finished reading this book about five minutes ago so I'll answer this question while it's all still fresh in my head!.

They held him back a grade, most likely, because after his aunt died he missed alot of school, the book said!. Not just a week or two, but they implied that it was an extended leave!. When you're that young it is easier for them to hold you back when something like that happens because the kid is too young to care really and trying to catch a seven year old up on a ton of course work while still teaching them the current stuff is way too much for one time!.

There really isn't anything technically "wrong" with Charlie either!. He is just very sensitive!. also, his aunt turned out to be a creepy molester which I'm sure contributed to his sensitivity and what not!. Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hmm!. It's been a while since I read it!. I feel like there wasn't anything WRONG with him, but keep in mind that Charlie was very different!. I think that was evident in the writing!. Different is perceived negatively sometimes!. Right-o!?

They never really did say did they!? I figured he was just a troubled young man!.!.!.

In fact there were a lot of things that weren't fully explained, but I don't think it hindered the book!. It was just they style it was written!.

What a great book though huh!?!? I loved it!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
