The family of Ammu are Catholics!. They form the rich class of Ayimenem!. But actually Catholism has a very little direct role to play except that they are shown to be hard-handed and believers of caste system!. Mammachi is generous but is a strong supporter of classes!. She doesnt allow Paravans inside her house!. They banish Ammu for having affair with Velutha!. **Christianity doesn't support Caste system!.***

Then another incident which is rather surprising is the Conversion of the Irish priest whom Baby Kochamma loves!.
