Chapter 20 starts off with Bella talking about how she gave the concert tickets to Angela, Ben, and Mike (and Jessica would be accompanying Mike)!. Bella, however, would be spending a couple of days with Edward (hiding away); while Charlie thinks that she'll be with Alice!. In chapter 20 Bella begins hammering out more details about their compromise of matrimony!. She finds out that Edward also wants her to go to Dartmouth and wants to pay her tuition, he wants more time (before changing her) which she is unwilling to give him, and he wants to get her a new car!. And Bella adds that she wants to BE WITH Edward before she turns because she's afraid that she won't want him in the same way after she's a vampire!. She then goes on to start kissing him and undoing her blouse before he realizes what she meant and quickly stops her!. And tells her that it could kill her!. But, of course, she doesn't believe it and presses the subject!. So, he reaches behind himself for something that Bella can't see!.!.!. all she hears is a snap!. And when he brings his hand around she sees a metal flower from his bed frame!. Then he crushes it in his hand and gives it to her!. Then after a few pages of discussion they begin making out again and she keeps trying to unbutton her shirt and he keeps stopping her while continuing to kiss her!.!.!. but she keeps trying until he finally tells her to stop trying to take her clothes off!. (hehe)

Then he stops before they go any further and explains that he wants to marry her first and that they will try after she marries him!. And she reluctantly agrees!. And this is where he starts talking about how he wants to protect her virtue and that his virtue is all he has left!. Then he shows her the engagement ring (the same ring that his father gave to his mother) saying that if she finds it too old fashioned he can get her something from Tiffany's!. But she says that she likes old fashioned things!. :)

And then at the end of chapter 20 Edward officially proposes to Bella by getting down on one knee!. She whispers yes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm going off of memory here, so it won't be terribly detailed!.

If I remember correctly, this is the chapter where Bella tries to persuade Edward to sleep with her!. He, however, is reluctant and tells her that he wants to wait!. Bella explains to Edward that the reason she wishes to consumate their relationship now is because she wants to do it before she turns into a vampire---she's afraid that once she turns into a vampire, she'll be too distracted by her want for blood to pay any attention to Edward and thinks she won't feel the same way about him as she does now!. So, a compromise is made: Edward agrees to sleep with Bella before she is turned into a vampire, but Bella must wait until they are married to do it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

they go to the Cullen's house kiss for awhile and Edward gives Bella the hand me down he gave her a heart shaped crystal
they discuss the marriage terms
she tries to get him to have sex with he but he refuses
she gets upset and they cuddle
they discuss it further
he agrees to it but not that night
but he insists that she marry him first
he shows her the ring
she tries it on
he asks her to marry him
she says yes
