Go Ask Alice by Anonymous is probablly one of best books i've ever read and Runaway by Wendelin Van Draanen is really good to, but i'm not to sure if it's a true story, but i think it might be!. Oh and Crank is good by Ellen Hopkins too! Hope this helps!. (:Www@QuestionHome@Com

For an inspiring book I would recommend Three Cups of Tea!. It shows you a side of Pakistan that you do not normally see and leaves you with a real sense of hope for America’s future in the world!. The book does start a little slow if you are not interested in mountain climbing but quickly moves onto the story of building schools for the needy!. It is hard to believe at times that it is actually a true story given everything that this man goes through but it is and you can even go to lectures by Greg Mortenson (the man building the schools)!. The book is written by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin!.

For a glimpse into a world different than your own anything by Tom Wolfe; he takes his ability as a journalist and writes stories based on what he has lived while researching the story!. Some are more true tellings and some are made up stories based on events, but they are on a wide variety of topics!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Parallel Journeys Eleanor H!. Ayer With Helen Waterford And Alfons Heck!.
It is a double autobiography!. (not fiction) Helen Waterford survived Auschwitz, Alfons Heck was in the Hitler Youth and German Air force!. They take turns telling their stories!. It is incredible!.

In My Hands : Memories Of A Holocaust Rescuer; Irene Gut Opdyke, With Jennifer Armstrong!.

I'm not sure if this counts because it is very recent history, but Imperial Life in the Emerald City is non-fiction about how the war in Iraq was run, and how it turned into the mess we have!. This would probably fit your one 400 page book!.

Yellow Star, Jennifer Roy

Books by Russell Freedman, Albert Marrin, & Milton Melzter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well!.!.!.my non-fiction library (small, but growing) is mostly historical, and some of that stuff gets thick!. However, a really good one is Heart of the Sea, if I remember the title correctly!. It's about a whaling ship, the Essex, that was rammed by an enormous sperm whale, and the crew's adventure drifting from the accident in the middle of the Pacific back to South America!. About 6 people survived, total, with about 7 or 8 people that, once they had expired, were eaten by those who survived them!. Anyway, a young sailor named Herman Melville heard about this in his time and wrote a fictional account of it that most of us have had to suffer through at one point in time!. The real events are far more interesting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
