!.!.and why!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
If I had to choose only one, I′d pick

"One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez!.

Because it is a great story, well written, funny, intelligent and very beautiful!. You read it and wonder "how could I live for so long without knowing this book!?!?" :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Bible!. You do not have to be a Christian to appreciate this!. It was the first book published in mass printing!. It liberated millions of minds when its publication made public access to its words available!. Before that time, religious thought (and thereby social and political thought) were controlled by a church leadership who taught their views as the word of an unbending God!. When the Bible was published, people were free to read and learn!. It helped end the dark ages and lit the spark that now enlightens the world today!. No book would be important now if it was not for The Bible back then!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm of the opinion that there's no such thing as a single "best" book!.

Regardless of genre, Books (great books) all help tell part of the human experience!. But books mean different things to people with different experiences!. For example, a struggling adolescent might identify more with JD Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye than say, a disgruntled schoolteacher would!. An avid intellectual and lover of books might understand the nuances of Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, whereas the average student forced to read it in High School might not!.

That's not to say that all books are equal!. The vast majority of published work these days is garbage!. Amongst the stacks of run-of-the-mill whodunits, sappy romances filled with "throbbing member" and "heaving bosom", and mediocre fantasy novels with 97% of their material carbon copied from Tolkien and the rest worthless, there does exist a distinctive, extremely rare breed of literature: The Classic!.

But among the the true classics, rank is highly debatable!. Just look at the various competing "Top 100" lists for fiction!. None of them are quite the same, and some vary quite widely in their placement of books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'll say "The Cat in the Hat" by Theodor Geisel aka Dr!. Seuss!.

It is an excellent book that gets kids reading!. It was written do just that in a time when all books of its type showed whitewashed kids doing boring things that just didn't interest real children and get them to read!. This book showed that you could write children's books that actually interested children while still teaching them vocabulary!.

If you don't learn to read first, none of the other books are really worth anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's a pretty hard question to answer!.
I'd have to say the third book(Ptolemy's Gate) in the Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud!. The ending was so meaningful that it made me cry!.
The whole trilogy was the best series/books I've ever read!. It was amazing, hilarious, and I absolutely loved it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Too many to list, besides, what is the "best" for me could very much be a wall-banger to someone else!. I see this happen time and again with the books I review (books I considered mediocre at best or even flat out horrid, others considered masterpieces and viceversa)!. My favorite fiction author, Anne Rice, is the perfect example!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Harry Potter in my opinion is the best!. The series is great in both senses of the word!. It appeals every age and most people can relate to it!. I don't know of another book that is obsessed over by such a wide variety of people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's a very hard choice!. There are so many great books but if I had to choose just the one:
Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain because of all the witty observations on human behavior Twain did!. It's one true classic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Fiction :- The Lord of the Rings by J!.R!.R!. Tolkien
Non-fiction :- The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William l!. Shirer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are a lot of ways you might define "best," but I'll take it to mean most artful and aesthetically perfect, and I'll say Tolstoy's "War and Peace"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Last Temptation of Christ by Nikos KazantzakisWww@QuestionHome@Com
