Question: Name for a thief in a fantasy story!?
The story takes place in a fantasy country that is kinda comparable to medevial england!. Course there are all types of creatures like griffens and elves that weren't in medeival england :P!. anyway!.!.!.!.
She has blond hair that comes about halfway down her back and is always in a different style, sometimes even color!. She's a master thief and is kinda cocky!. think a teenage female Jack Sparrow!. She doesn't remember anything about her family or life before she was a thief (she was abandoned at an early age) so she gave herself a name that she thought suited her, problem is I can't come up with a name!. I've grown really attached to her ya know, and none of the ones I've found myself seem to be good enough for her!. :P So I figured I'd get a second opinion!.

Thanks a ton!Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is a classic character style that needs a classic "thieve's nickname"!. She's an orphan, she was raised as a thief (or self-taught, either way)

The classic example is "The Artful Dodger"
but there are others, such as "Shadowspawn"

In this unusual case, she will most likely have a name (because it is a nickname) that describes her greatest thieving skill or, alternately, something unusual about her appearance!. Alternately, it might be something like those mentioned above - a general name describing her skills as a thief generally, but not identifying her to the police!.

SO, here are some possibilities

Ghost (or even Ghostess) - passes through walls, pale skin, quiet - you get the idea!. Add a color if you like!.
Sunbeam - yellow hair(!?), goes through windows, quiet
Moonbeam
White Shadow or Blond Shadow (or any other color except black)
Switcher (because her appearance changes, and maybe she carries a switchblade)
Lamia (half-snake, half-woman from mythology, if she "slithers" or squeezes her way into houses)
Casey (because of the way she "cases" a joint)

Along the lines of "Artful Dodger"

Careful Chooser or Picky Chooser (if she steals only special items, not everything of value)
Silent Mover (thinking here of "moving goods")
Tooth Puller (if she goes so far as to extract and steal people's gold teeth)
Lonely Doll (if she works alone and is not romantically involved)
Crisp Morning (if that's when she likes to work)
Small Sack or Light Purse (if she tends to carry small sacks so that she is not weighed down by the loot)

I think, if you follow these ideas, that you will be able to come up with far more appropriate names for your character than anyone else!.
