Question: What does a book editor do!?
Do they delete sentences!? Take out scenes from the story!? Rearrange sentences!? delete characters!? correct mistakes!?

Alright, here goes~
They do changes, but they LET YOU KNOW of the changes!. They basically do all of the above, as they are polishing up your book!. If there are too many plot holes or something, I think they would personally pull you over and tell you, as their job is to edit, not write!.
However, if they made a suggestion that you don't like, you can right 'stet' (which means 'leave it as it was'), and they won't use what the editor put!. Don't worry about losing the essence of the book, if that's what you meant!.

Spelling, grammar, and consistency are the main things most editors check, though the one I have now also helps me keep the flow at a good pace, through suggestion!.

If an editor is actually going to take any scenes or characters 'out,' it won't be without some discussion with the author first!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
