Aliens accidentally invade Earth using an wormhole type transporter - and happen across a platoon of National Guardsmen on their 2 week training hitch - that they intended to use against their enemy in a civil war on their homeworld!. If you aren't adverse to reading some of the Star Wars books, then I would suggest the New Jedi Order series of about 17 books!. In them, an alien species from another galaxy invades the Star Wars galaxy!. This is a species that uses biological technology and has a completely different outlook on life!. You can also try the Wess'Har series by Karen Traviss, starting with City of Pearl!. I am only up to the second book, but can see that there will soon be a war between several races, including humans, in the upcoming books!.
