Question: What is a good book to read in a summer vacation!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Since you didn't mention a favorite genre or book of yours, I'll offer suggestions from a variety of genres, so that you can choose what type of book you're in the mood for!.!.!.

For historical fiction (a lot of these contain underlying romance, as well):
-Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery (this series has eight books overall, the first one being Anne of Green Gables)!. This series takes place in the early 1900s, and is about a hot-headed, stubborn orphan girl who finds a way of fitting into the little town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island!. As the series progresses, the main character (Anne) grows up, marries, etc!.!.!.
-Anything by Jane Austen, such as Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Persuasion, etc!.!.!.Many of her books are about women of the 1800s and their attempts at fitting into society, finding romance/love, etc!.!.!.!.
-Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - This is about four sisters in the 1860s, and it portrays how the sisters grow up, find romance/love, etc!.!.!.

For fantasy/fiction:
-The Hobbit by J!.R!.R!. Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Tolkien!. Tolkien's books are filled with creativity, wonderful and imaginative characters, intelligence, and excellent writing!.!.!.
-The Chronicles of Narnia by C!.S!. Lewis - These may be written technically for children, but even adults can enjoy this series; this series is a very fun and magical read!. And the underlying messages in these books are very profound and intelligent!.
-Tamora Pierce has a lot of good series (her books are for young teens and young adults, I believe, but even those older can enjoy her books)!. My favorite series of hers was always Circle of Magic, which has four books, each one revolving around a kid with a special power!. I also heard her The Song of the Lioness series was good, which is about a girl trying to become a knight!.
-For something a little more mature, perhaps, you could try George R!.R!. Martin's fantasy novels/series!. I have actually never read his stuff, but my dad enjoys his works (and so do many others I've talked to!.!.!.)!. His books are written for young adults and mainly adults, I believe!. One fantasy series of his that is popular is called A Song of Ice and Fire!.

For horror/suspense:
-H!.P!. Lovecraft's short stories, such as "The Dunwich Horror," "The Dreams in the Witch-House," "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" etc!.!.!.Many of his stories have an excellent spook factor and eerie endings (and there are some excellent books that are collections of Lovecraft's greatest works)!.
-Books by Dean Koontz - Koontz's books are filled with excellent suspense!. His book called Watchers is good, and its suspense starts on page 1!. Watchers involves the consequences of a top-secret government laboratory genetically altering two creatures - one a very intelligent dog and the other a savage, violent monster!. Koontz's books have excellent suspense and even some mystery and horror intertwined in them!.

For something a little more classic, perhaps:
-Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift - This is about a sailor/captain of a ship who, throughout the book, ends up in four different, interesting lands - one of the lands is inhabited by tiny people, one is inhabited by giants, one is inhabited by talking horses, and one of the lands is a floating island!.!.!.
-Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
-To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
-A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens (and many other novels written by Dickens)

For Sci-Fi:
-books by Kurt Vonnegut, such as Slaughterhouse-Five, Cat's Cradle, etc!.!.!.A lot of his books contain ideas such as time travel, aliens, etc!.!.!.

If you like romance, go for the Twilight series or Pride and Prejudice!.

Twilight - By Stephenie Meyer

It's a vampire love story!. It has a bit of everything in it!. Fantasy, adventure, romance, you name it, it's got it!. I started reading Twilight and got hooked on the first chapter!. I read all the sequels and I'm actually counting down till the fourth book and the Twilight movie!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Pillars of the Earth and World Without End by Ken Follet,

The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind, starts with Wizards first Rule, 11 books in series and a spin off book!.

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King starts with The Gunslinger, 7 books in series and a spin off book, will keep you going all summer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Airborn by Kenneth Oppel and it's sequel but i forgot what it's called!. Basically it takes place in a somewhat futuristic yet past like era!. They use giant blimps as means of air travel!. They use helium, obviously, to float their blimp!. now these blimps are HUGE some of them enough to carry a hundred people not including the people who work on it!. there are pirate blimps too!.

i forget the storyline to airborn since it's been a while since i read it but!.!.!. i think it's about a boy fifteen maybe, who works on a blimp that travels all over the world, they take people places, anyway the boy meets a girl and then the whole romance thing happens!. BUT a pirate comes in and robs the place!. Then they sink the blimp!. luckily, it lands on the same island the pirates dwell on!. stuff happens, dont wanna give it away!. yeahh i might have already said too much but yeah!.!.!.

then there's Maximum Ride by!.!.!. i forget!. (sorry i'm reading forgotten realms now and there are like hundreds of books!) but anyway there's four books to this series i know!. it's about a group of kids, three being teens and three being kids, and they were experimented on inside the mother's womb and it gave them wings!. like angels!. they have escaped the facility and live on their own but in constant fear of werewolves, the guys that are trying to hunt them down, being driven away from their previous home, the angels then travel everywhere this time in search of their true family since they were taken at birth!.

then the story goes on from there too!.

Sea of Trolls!? good book, based on Norse religion(thor, odin, etc!.) its about a Bard who picks a farm boy as an apprentice but the bard loses his mind fighting a troll(!?) witch queen who's very powerful!. meanwhile the boy gets taken away by babarians who raided the land!. eventually, the boy must face the witch king who is then forced to go meet the sister of the witch king in the upper realms where everything is five times bigger!. animals, plants etc!.

yeahh that's all i'll put!. they all have romance in it if that's what you like but the last one isnt really that romantic!. not in my opinion anyways!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love Meg Cabot (Heather Wells & Queen of Babble) and Sophie Kinsella's (Shopaholic [soon to be movie] & Remember Me) books!. I am in the process of reading Emily Giffin's (Something Borrowed & Something Blue, Baby Proof) books!. They are all great authors!

For a young adult/teen I recommend Meg Cabot's young adult books!. She is the best author!. also best selling!. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), Jinx, and more!. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her!.
