Question: Essay on Lord Of The Flies!?
I have to write a six paragraph/six page essay on LOTF for my honors English final!.
The topic I am doing it on is how the characters of Jack, Ralph and Piggy exemplify Freud's conception of the human psyche, the id, ego, and super ego!. What facts can I use to show that jack is the id (desires, want), the superego is piggy (conscience), and Ralph is the ego (mediator between your wants and conscience)!. also, I need to use the three characters conflicts to show how the three things conflict in one person!. For example, your id (wants) and your superego (conscience) are in conflict, with your ego in the middle, same as Jack and Piggy in conflict, with Jack changing from side to side over the novel!.
I have a basic outline planned out, but I would like some assistance with the examples to support this straight from the text along with anything else you’d like to contribute!.
Please don’t even post if you are not familiar with Freud, even if you have read LOTF thanksWww@QuestionHome@Com

Alright, well watch how Ralph's attitude towards Piggy changes throughout the novel!. In the beginning, as he celebrates his newfound freedom, he associates most freely with Jack: What he wants to do, he can now do, and he's relishing every moment of it!. He's in a tropical paradise, with no grown-ups in sight!. Piggy is nothing but a nuisance; a constant reminder of the boring, realistic adult world he's left behind!.

Later on, as the tensions begin to rise, the same burdens of civilization that he thought he left behind start to appear in full force on the island!. As he assumes more and more adult leadership responsibility, he begins to fall in love with civilization, morality, and rational thought--and, consequently, he begins to befriend Piggy, and hate Jack!.

As the thin-skinned fabric of their new civilization begins to unravel, morales and reason fall apart, and Ralph clings desperately to the two things that represent his civilized values: the chance of getting rescued, (the signal fire) and Piggy, both of which Jack, the id, abhors!.

When Piggy dies, it represents the death of morality!. Beyond that point, the "savages" are predators and Ralph is nothing but another boar to be decapitated and skewered on a stick!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I once wrote a 5 and a half paper on this!. Talk about Jack wanted to be the leader and how he was angry when Ralph became the leader!. Talk about the savage society he created!. For Piggy mention how he was the smart one and the ideas he had to keep the civilized society together!. Talk about how Ralph tried to keep order on the island!.
I dont know if this is a good internal conflict but maybe you can talk about Simons conflict of joining Jacks society or staying with Ralph!.
Good luck on your paperWww@QuestionHome@Com
