Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Simone de Beauvoir doesn't fit in your time periods ('The Second Sex' was published in 1949) but she is crucially important to feminism as well!.

Read some Gertrude Stein as well; she would fit more comfortably into Early 20th!.

If you want something quirky for second wave, look up Valerie Solanas' SCUM Manifesto!. It's a bit of a catchphrase now, and Solanas is not representative of feminism in general, but it is an important document nonetheless!.

As far as modern day, Adrienne Rich is a good writer, and is still writing poetry!. She's pretty cool!.

Just figured I'd toss a few into the ring that hadn't been mentioned yet!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Look up the Seneca Falls Conference of 1848, a major event in the history of American feminism!.

Susan Faludi published "Backlash" in the 1990s!.

These are just a few examples of feminist writing from the three periods you're studying!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

19th to 20th century:

Rebecca West was important: " "I myself have never been able to find out what feminism is; I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat or a prostitute!." " - see Wikepedia link

Mary Wollenscroft was very important with her 'Vindication of the Rights of Women' (see link) - the first feminist manifesto!.

George Eliot

Second wave (UK):

Susie Orbach
