Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
They'r brilliant books!. The heroine, Vicky Nelson, is a former homicide detective who has had to leave the police force because she is suffering from a degenerative eye disease!. In the first book, 'Blood Price' she stumbles on a grizzly murder in a subway station, the dead man has been drained of blood!. She is hired to investigate the case by the dead man's girlfriend!. Her inquiries bring her into contact with Henry Fitzroy, a 400-year-old vampire, and together they try to solve the case!. Meanwhile Vicky's ex-police partner and former lover Mike Cellucci has come back into her life after a long period when they did not see each other because they quarreled over Vicky's decision to leave the force (Mike wanted her to stay on and take a desk job)!.

Over the first book and the four that follow, a simmering triangle develops between Vicky, Henry and Mike!. Vikcy is a great heroine, tough and brave and independent, and Henry and Mike are both good strong charcters too!. The plots are exciting, and there is lots of humour!.

The 'Blood' series does contain quite a lot of violence and some sex, and i would not say that they are similar to 'Twilight (though I haven't actually read it) as I gather the emphasis in Twilight is more on romance!. I think I can safely say that the Blood series is more adult in content!. But I think there is a slight similarity in that the heroine has two attractive men in love with her!.

I have no idea what series Tua la Cante was thinking of when she posted her comment on here, but it certainly wasn't the 'Blood' series by Tanya Huff!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

These books, as the others have said, are geared toward more mature, adult readers!. There are themes of sexuality of all kinds throughout the series, but most everything is implied; nothing is in explicit detail!.

The books, of course, are better than the show (though I happen to like the show as well)!. In a short summary, it follows a private investigator, Vicki Nelson, as she helps to solve supernatural cases with the help of a 450 year old vampire, Henry Fitzroy (the bastard son of King Henry VIII), and her ex-police partner and on-again-off-again lover, Michael Celluci!.

I thought they were great books and after having read them all, I really wish the series wasn't over! I recommend them if you're thinking about reading them and the subject matter doesn't bother you!.

Edit: I just took a look at La Tua Cantante's answer and I think she was possibly thinking about and describing another series!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read the books before I ever saw the show and they are brilliant!. There is more in them than the show too, though that's only to be expected!.

Basically they are about a policewoman who has to leave the force because her eyesight is failing!. She sets herself up as a private investigator, but one of her cases ends up having a paranormal explanation!. Enter the vampire, Henri, bastard son of Henri VIII, romance novelist and a good guy!. He helps her solve her crimes, being her night eyes!. It’s very like the tv series Forever Knight, another reason I love it!.

As for the age range, it’s a horror book, don’t read it if you are very sensitive and like most vampire novels there is a lot of sex, and as the books progress there are a lot of same sex relationships (especially in the spin off ‘Smoke’ series!.) I’d say the suitable age range depends on the individual, not young teens I guess, but I’m past the age of having to worry!.

Tanya Huff is one of my favourite authors anyway so I would highly recommend these books, and if you think you may not be old enough yet, definitely put them on your list for later!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

These books have some mature content in them, and I do not recommend them if you are under the age of 18!. The plott is a girl who is forced to serve an evil king in order to save her father who is held captive by him!. The king orders the girl to go to a nearby village and slaughter the merchant's son because the merchant's son has the power the king fears; the power of vampyrism!. The girl is given an amlet which gives her some of the power she needs to slay the vampyre/merchant's son and so she sets off to track him, leaving a murderous trail behind her!. She finds him in a forbidden forrest, but doesn't recognize him as a vampyre!. She has sex with him and falls in love with him, then realizes he's a vamyre!. She tries to run, but he won't let her!. So they compramise and he bites her to give her his power of vampyrism, and she goes back to kill the king, but the king killed her father already, and escaped to seek an alchemist to make him immortal!. Then that starts the beginning of the other books!. These books were difficult to read and aren't THAT great!.!.!. but go ahead!. if you like twilight, then chances are you wont like this book!. but all u can do is give it a try, right!? Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com
