Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
In truth, I like them both!. James Joyce wrote two of the greatest and most influential novels of the 20th century in Ulysses and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man!. In addition, he wrote one of the most complex novels, in Finnegans Wake, that still has scholars scratching their heads!. He is one of the rare authors who will have a place on bookshelves for quite a while!. Beckett is a genius in his own right!. He did to drama what Joyce did to the novel!. His plays, Waiting for Godot in particular, have reinvigorated theater as we know it today!. They are simple enough to understand and enjoy yet complex enough to keep you talking about them for days after you finish reading them!. Actually, I have named my two dogs Pozzo and Lucky, after two of the characters in Godot!. Which is my favorite!? I would say Joyce but Beckett is not far behind!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Beckett because I haven't read any Joyce yet!. And Beckett must have been pretty clever because he wrote his works in French and translated them into English to eliminate hackneyed idioms!. Pretty clever!Www@QuestionHome@Com
