Question: Vampire!.!.!.!.!.!?!?
Is vampire a myth!.!.or just a story created by Bram Stoker!.!.!.!.!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Vampires were initially folk tales/myths!. Bram Stoker did not come up with the idea of "vampires", he based his book on the myth!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

From what I've read I think Bram Stokers the one that got them popular- taking what he knew from Vlad Dracula from the 1400's (I think!.!.!.), and changing him physically, but keeping his state of insanity!.!.!. thus creating the vampire!. But, I guess the idea of vampires had been around long before then!. Bram just got them popular, as Anne Rice did, then Stephanie Meyer (though her idea of a vampire completely degrades the actual story of a vampire), I hope I helped!.

There are vampire myths in just about every culture, going back thousands and thousands of years to ancient Mesopotamia and India!. Bram Stoker wasn't even the first author to romanticize them in literature!. John Polidori wrote a book called Vampyr in the early 19th century about eighty years before Stoker!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Back in the early 1600's, and even today, there were people that were, in a sense, allergic to the sun!. It's a disease called XP!. It's where their body can't tolerate sunlight's UVA and UVB rays!. These people had to stay in in the daytime, usually in a basement or corner of a dark tower, and they'd come out at night!. They'd also lack color in their face, usually becoming a pale pink, yellow, or white!.
Needless to say, back then they didn't have the technology we have today, so it was hard for them to understand that people were simply allergic to the sun rather than afraid of it!. Kids and some adults would associate these people with the things that go "bump" in the night (bats, cats, dead people) and eventually they became "vampires"!.
It's totally true!. Google "XP Disorder" and see what comes up!.
Good question, though :DWww@QuestionHome@Com
