Does anyone else think that Twilight is overrated?

Question: Does anyone else think that Twilight is overrated!?

Seriously!.!.!. the books are okay, I've read them!. But they are so not worth all of the obsession & I'm sick of hearing about them all the time!.
Every book of the series is basically:
- Bella getting into trouble!.
- Relationship problems with Jacob & Edward!.
- Bella getting hunted!.
- Edward and the family to the rescue!.
- Bella's safe!.
very boring and plain!.!.

Yes, it really is!. There is a huge reason why I don't reccomend these books to young girls!. I know it's just a book, but some girls are in LOVE with Edward, for real!. The problem is that in Eclipse and New Moon, Edward displays signs of being an abusive boyfriend!. Not physically abusive, but emotionally!. He is very controlling and manipulating!. Now I know its just a book, but these girls who think the world of Edward most likely think that his behavior is acceptable, and it's not at all!. I was treated the way Edward treated Bella, and it led to some pretty horrible things in my life!. I could not believe what I was reading because it was exactly what happened to me!. Girls should not think that kind of behavior is acceptable from any guy!. The fact that Bella just lets it go is a terrible example!. And besides that, Bella and Edward's love is extremely shallow and empty!. Edward loves Bella because he can't read her mind, and Bella just loves him because he was so gorgeous and myterious to her!. Very very shallow!. Besides the shallow love story, the action is pretty dull and lame too!. Edward always rescuing Bella!.!.!.i find it very boring, like you do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I usually have trouble getting into books if the main character gets on my nerves, but the stories in the Twilight series are enjoyable even though Bella is annoying!. I will agree that the plot points are similar, varying only in the details!. And yes, the series' fan base can get a little over enthusiastic!.

Essentially the books are entertaining and have gotten a lot of teens reading!. So if you think that the quality of the literature is overrated, I would agree with you!. But I do think that hype about the series' impact on the teen lit scene is valid!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Aren’t most series of books very repetitive just look at the examples
Harry Potter:
-He hates the Dursleys
-He goes to school
-He gets in trouble
-Nearly dies or gets someone else killed
-He saves the day
Lord of the Rings
-Frodo is becoming taken by the ring
-Aragorn is realizing he needs to be king
-They almost die
-Frodo saves the day

Most fiction books have the same premise but that doesn’t mean they aren’t good!. I happen to be a big fan of the Twilight series!. I don’t think people should be judged on how many times they read or don’t read it’s the fact that they read at all makes me happy because I don’t think people read enough these days there are so many books to enjoy !. This series is only the tip of the iceberg!.

I agree with you!. They are GOOD books, but that is it!. I really don't see why people are SO obsessed eith them! I have friends and they are completely in love with Edward!! I'm like sorry to tell you but, hes FICTIONAL! The books are fairly regular, They are all the same as others! I do intend to read the next one, but I do agree that people are too obsessed!. Its one thing to like a book, but when you become as obsessed as I know some people are, you need to read something else to give you mind a BREAK!

Not exactly, but I do feel it's overrated when people post comments about how good Twilight series is and how much they love it!. And personally, I do not think it is the best book ever written!. It's just an ok book!.

I very much agree with you, though I did very much enjoy Twilight, Meyer began to push the envelope a little to much when she came out with the next two - and soon to be the fourth - all of the patience and imagination wasn't given to the books after twilight, they were a waste and only for money!. Yes you are right the story is very much repeating itself and its getting tiring!. I will NEVER forgive Meyer for making such a series for money!. In my opinion Twilight should have been over at Twilight!. Now shes turned it into a big project for money, holding no concern what so ever about what the stories are like!. As a 27-year-old looking at Twilight questions all over the Books & Authors section, it makes me laugh!. I was the same way at 13 or so, reading Christopher Pike books--and anyone who says they weren't either a) had a sheltered childhood or b) is lying!.

Havent read the books (not a romance kind of person), and it sounds linear!. Besides, it is probably overrated!. Y'know how it goes!. It is so overrated! Mt sister keeps bugging me to read the books, and I don't want to, I'm just going to see the movie! also, the books have now been added to a list of books for a summer reading project I must do! HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD!

I don't really know what to say to you!.

I think it's *become* overrated over the years!. You know what I mean!? I was one of the first people to read it (I got my friends into it and everything) and now the entire world likes it and not only do I not feel special anymore (haha, childish, I know), but now there's all this negativity about the book!. Like people are so sick of hearing about Twilight, like you, so they purposely post questions here, or give people a thumbs down if they do like the book, and all this stupid crap that doesn't need to even exist!. Like, it's even Harry Potter times a thousand!. But that would be because more people like Harry Potter, I believe!.

So, I AM sick of hearing about the book, BUT I also love it to death!. Does that make sense!? I'm the kind of person who wants to be in a bubble with her favorite books and just be!. But then when the whole world wants *your* favorite character to bite them, it's really a pain!. It's like when people stop liking underplayed bands that suddenly appear on the radio and are then overplayed!.

I hope I make sense!.

Edit: And can I just say that, really, people will like what they like/love what they love/hate what they hate!. You don't think Twilight is a big deal, but I do!. Some people feel the same about Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, and!.!.!. Scrubs!. That one TV show I've never watched!. But you know what I mean!. I think that people are making this book even more controversial and attention-grabbing by talking about it so much!. Not only on YA but everywhere!. If you hate the book, you hate the book!. But don't spread it around, because really, nobody cares!. Plus it's a tad immature!. And this isn't a jab at you, C, this is in general!. Basically, I'm saying people shouldn't complain!.
