i really liked it!. it sounds boring (a story about building a cathedral!?) but there's lots of intrigue and plotting & excitement!. it's almost like a soap opera in that lots of stuff happens - lots of plot!. i thought the characters were pretty interesting!. it's also a nice lllloooooonnnnnnggggggg book so you can really get involved in it!. you do have to like historical fiction, though!. it really makes you feel like you're living a long time ago - the problems of everyday living - things we take for granted!.

if you like it, follett wrote a sequel called "world without end!."

i suggest you get "pillars" from your local library & try a few chapters!. if you really like it, keep reading or buy your own copy then!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The one by Ken Follet!? I enjoyed it immensly!. It quite a change, though, from Follet's usual cloak-and-dagger stuff!. It's an historical fiction that mixes the story of the building of a cathedral with the political infighting of the early Middle Ages!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I found it disappointing and stopped halfway through!. The writing seemed amaturish and did not make me feel the setting or time period!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
