Yes, I think we can say that it is!. The reason I believe that is that it is a book which is clearly of its time but which expresses universals of the human experience in such a way that it is still vital and pertinent to us today!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's a modernist work, and America loves it's modernists!.!.!.

(Seriously, look at any decent anthology of American Lit and there will be a noticeably disproportionate amount of modernist lit in it!. The movement only lasted like 30 yrs, man!)

Plus it's kind of short, and that's always a plus in American Lit!. We really tend to like Literary Minimalism!.

Obviously my answer isn't as insightful as Reader, and I'd choose her, but I just wanted to throw out some of the technical reasons it's still popular!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
