Question: Chuck Palahniuk Invisible Monsters!?
I am just about 13 and I just finished reading the book Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk!. It was the best book I have ever read!. I loved the jumping from scene to scene, the dry humor, the irony, how everything came together in the end and the brutal honesty!. My mom looked through the book and didn't think it was age appropriate (even though I have the maturity level of an adult and there is worse content on television)!. Does anyone know of any good books/authors that are more "age appropriate" (drugs, violence and swearing are okay with my mom, it was just the few sexually explicit scenes she wasn't okay with) for me that are similar to the writing style (as mentioned above) of Chuck Palahniuk (I had no problem understanding his writing so around that reading level or even a bit higher would be great)!?
I would rather read an adult novel rather that a kids/young adult novel!. I don't even think a kids novel would have that kind of writing style anyway!.!.!.
Thanks in advance!Www@QuestionHome@Com

don't worry about age appropriate!. i mean, your mom should be ecstatic that you're so intelligent!. palahniuk is one of my favorite authors, but yeah, he is a little bit rough sometimes!.

i don't know anybody that writes like him!. but since i like him so much, and you like him so much, maybe we like the same type of writing!? haha!. i really love mark haddon, bret easton ellis, david sedaris, charles bukowski!.!.!. i don't know!. check them out :]

oh also, you should really read "choke" if you haven't already, it's also by palahniuk and it's my absolute FAVORITE by him, invisible monsters comes in second!.

edit: my mom's like that, too!. she was obsessed with "age appropriate!." but i don't know, i just never let her know what i was reading, i guess!. but i stand by bret easton ellis - he's sort of similar to palahniuk, still kind of harsh, but marginally less so!.

well it's kind of true, i just turned eighteen and sometimes i wish i had spent more time being a little kid! i miss it!. but you can't help it if you're mature, you know!? haha, tales of a fourth grade nothing was my favorite book when i was a little kid!. anyway i feel silly checking back here, but good luck with finding a good book! <3Www@QuestionHome@Com
