Question: Can anyone recommend a creatve writing course!.!?

It depends if you want to spend money or not!. I did a Short Course from the Open University, and it really helped me!. But it costs money!.

Unless you want some kind of certificate, there are many writing forums out there, where the members give very constructive criticism for free, and help you improve your writing skills!.

I'm a staff member at www!.fictionpost!.com (although it's down at the moment) and www!.scribefarm!.com, and I couldn't recommend either of them any higher!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no absolutely not!.
I did the (then) prestigous MA in Creative Writing at UEA under Malcolm Bradbury and Rose Tremain!.
It was a complete waste of time!.
You are encouraged to submit work which you are not happy with!. This you do and then sit back while everyone savages it, pointing out all the weaknesses which you were already perfectly aware of!. So, the next time its your turn to submit work you hand something in that you think is ok!. Lo and behold, everyone sits around telling you how great you are!.
If you′re good enough, you′re good enough!. These courses are just pandering to people′s egos and an utter waste of time (and, perhaps more importantly, money)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I get mail constantly regarding creative writing courses!.!.!. the kind that last a couple of intense weeks for 'one-on-one' help with a 'professional' (and some are impressive) --if you pay a lot of money to even be there, not to mention getting wherever there is!. (They are usually in rather isolated places!.)

This is because I am on lists as a pro writer (which I still do from time to time, but am mostly retired; yep) --but you can also find lists of these in the magazine "Poets and Writers," which also costs the moon unless you subscribe, then it's good!.

--If you look at a schedule for summer courses at a college, university or junior college near you, you can probably find something very helpful much more cheaply!.
--Ask a reference librarian at a good branch library near you to help you decide!.!.!. or, if you have a favorite teacher or a mentor, he/she can help a lot, too!.

If you want to just fool around with some interesting writing prompts online, suggest:
http://www!.creativewritingprompts!.com
You just put the mouse over one of many numbers there, and read your prompt, and write about it!. (I just checked, and there are 302 prompts!. They are usually good, too!.)
It's a safe and free site!.

Best of luck whatever you decide!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Lee Smith, located in North Carolina, teaches writing workshops, I think!. You might check and see if she's offering one anywhere near you or any place you'd consider going for a good workshop!. She sold her first novel before she graduated from college!. And she sells steadily!. Very good writer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Check your local council and see if they do one!. I live right on the Notts Derby border so slipped across into Derbyshire where I joined a class!. I learned quite a lot, the other pupils were most supportive and helpful!. The only problem I now have is, whenever I read a book I find I'm being critical about the way it has been written!. We were taught 'NO REPITITION'!. I've recently read a book by a well known author and if the repitition was cut out it would lose a good quarter of the pages!. It started to get on my wick!.!.!. but thats life I suppose!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
