Les Miserables is a great summer reading project!. Get the unabridged edition!. It is fantastic, uplifting, sad, wonderful--in short, a work of art!.

Two more favorites:

Wilkie Collins' The Moonstone!. It was called, by TS Eliot, "The first, the longest, and the best" detective novel in the English language!. Even non-mystery fans will get a kick out of this, in my opinion, because it isn't like all the series whodunnits that are churned out nowadays!. It too is a work of art!.

And, finally, Collins' second great work: The Woman in White!. A marvelous story of mistaken identity, madness, repentance, triumph!. I love both of Collins' great novels!. He wrote many others, but these are rightfully considered his best!.

As a writer myself, these three books are among the books that, when I read them, always make me smack my forehead and say, "DAMN!! I wish I could do that!"Www@QuestionHome@Com

Read ANYTHING by Chris Crutcher!. I absolutely love his books!. I would recommend reading "Whale Talk", "Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes", and "Crazy Horse Electric Game" first!. Those are my favorite books by him so far!. I would also recommend "Life As We Knew It" by Susan Beth Pfeffer!. also "The Giver" by Lois Lowry and "Gather Blue" (the companion book and the book I'm currently reading)!. I enjoy Ellen Hopkin's books!. They can be alittle depressing, but they are good!. My favorite book by her is "Impulse"!. Two "eye opening" books are "Give a Boy a Gun" by Todd Strasser and "Please Stop Laughing at Me!.!.!." by Jodee Blanco!. And you can never go wrong with a good ol' "Harry Potter" book =] !.

Happy Reading!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
