Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
That was the part of Voldemort's soul that had resided in Harry!. They'd finally been separated!.
It was, as Dumbledore said, 'beyond our (his and Harry's) help'--there was nothing in the world that could have saved Voldemort at that point!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The baby was the unintentionally placed piece of soul Voldemort put in Harry!. Technically, we COULD call it a Horcrux!. But, Jo has cleared this up by saying in the "Scottish Book" she'll specify that the definition of a Horcrux will include an intent part of it!. Meaning you meant to put that in!. Cause as we know the "baby" was a mistake!.

It's the horrible and torn piece of soul!. 17 years have been spent in this boy dis-attached and unloved!. It couldn't be helped or saved from it's ultimate demise!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
