Question: I want to start painting!.!. Want kind of supplies should I get!?
I'm looking for a outlet for some of my creative energy!. I used to take art classes but I haven't done anything in like 5 years!. I would love to get into painting but I don't know what I should and shouldn't buy!. I want to keep it kind of cheap!. I figured I'd see what everyone else suggests for a beginner so I don't buy a bunch of stuff and waste money!Www@QuestionHome@Com

In my experience, acrylic is easier to work with than tempera, but I've never tried oils!. With acrylic you can go over your already painted surface with ease, so its better if you make mistakes!.

Sturdy paper is a really good option, especially if you want to layer paint!.

Michael's is a good place to shop!. also, there is acrylic craft paint and just regular acrylic!. I'd go with the craft paint!. Its way cheaper, and comes in more colors!. Ceramcoat or Craft Smart work pretty well!.

Have fun! And most of all, just do what you want!. Be creative and just let go!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on what type of painting you want to do!. You didn't mention whether you want to do watercolor, oil, or acrylic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

buy some paints, either oil or acrylic!. a few different brushes, like small, big, fan etc!. and instead of using canvases just buy some good paper, which is always cheaper!. =]

Start by looking over the kind of art work that you like and the work of your favorites artists then go from there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It will greatly depend on what kind of painting you want to do!. If you are experienced in one medium, even though you may have not painted in some time, that would be the place to start!.
If you are thinking about trying some other medium than what you are used to, it may be a little more challenging!. The reason I say this is because if you have never painted in Watercolor before, but have done any other medium, you may become frustrated!. Watercolor is painted in reverse of every other medium!. In every other medium, you paint from dark to light!. In watercolor, you paint from light to dark!. Many people can't make that leap!. Watercolor has less involved clean up, and the paper can be cheaper than buying canvas, although there are now prepared canvases for watercolor, along with hardboard!. They both have special surfaces specifically for watercolor!.
Watercolor has been, historically; looked at as the bastard child of the art world!. I personally think that some of the most beautiful paintings are watercolors!. Oils and acrylics can't give the ethereal look that watercolor can, IMO!. And, there are more techniques for watercolor painting than there used to be!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
