Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
If you can get some sort of camera armor, do it!. I was in Korea last June, when there were riots because of several policies by the new president!.!.!.I was in the thick of the mob, snapping away and the police (illegally) shot a water cannon (hurts like hell) into us before breaking up the mob by charging in with sticks and shields!.

Anyways, just keep your gear safe, keep yourself safe, don't be stupid and get in the middle of a mob!. also, don't use your flash gun on any guy wearing government issued body armor and a riot shield!.!.!.they don't like that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, for one, wear proper clothing and devise an escape plan if the protest gets out of hand!.

Second:

No, do not use black and white!.!.!. people will get bored, it doesn't give a strong statement, you are trying to create a documentary, its all about colors!.

You might want to get up unto something high to take shots of the protest down below!.

also, get down on their level and just kind shoot the action!.

When interviewing, no special angle is required since making angles that are fancy will make it unnatural!.

Third:

Be careful!.

also, your MIC shouldbe able to eliminate unwanted noise and only record the voice of the protestee you are talking to!. It will save you sometime in the editing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

get in close!.!.find some of the more vocal/colorful characters and zone in on them!.!.they will give you your best content and talk with them!.
If you stand to far back you will lose the people who are watching the filmings interest!.
Mix it up!.!.some color,some black and white!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Use black and white!
It makes a stronger statement!Www@QuestionHome@Com
