if you research artists and find ones you like, then use their work as an influence, also use you own influences in your work, your mood on that day can influence the colours you use the thickness of your lines and what media you use, draw things you feel passionate about if you dont like what your drawing you wont have the motivation to concentrate!. Dont worry about perfection and if people will like it!. Perfessional artists create work because they record their feelings and thoughts down visually and some people dont like their work and some people do!. Dont jump straight into detail, just draw outlines, use rough lines to pick out the shape, concentrate on what you see and not what you think is there!. Take a look at Paul Klee's work, it doesn't make sense to me and i dont like his work but i also know that at least he knows what they mean, because he created them!. I think a good artist is one that can create a piece of work that they know the meaning of and other people dont but they can still relate to it in another way, if you understand!. Most importantly BE PASSIONATE, if the people who look at your work can see that you put passion into it then they are more likely to feel that passion too and are more likely to like it!. Hope my advice helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not really good at drawing, but I know that if you are trying to draw something in particular it's good to first observe it,and focus on it's shape!.Just try drawing it from shapes or things you already know how to draw!.Break it down into steps, and with practice you won't have to look at something to draw it,you will be able to think of it and draw it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As easy as pencil on paper!.
What's more difficult about drawing, is not how you draw or how good you are!.!.!. I think it's the ego!. If you have a big ego, or are over expectant of yourself, or think you're not doing well (for various reasons), then, your drawings will suffer!.
The act of drawing, is not hard!. In fact it can be easy, relaxed, casual!.!.!. or stimulating and invigorating!.!.!. it's just the strain we put on ourselves, that's hard!. The more relaxed you are, I've heard, the better your drawings would be!.!.!.

Instead of focusing, maybe you should let yourself have some freedom and go with the flow!. That's how unexpected ideas are made (sometimes), and besides, it's not so fun or relaxed when you have a plan, and if you aren't handling the process well, you get so frustrating that your plan isn't working!.
In some ways, drawing is more about working WITHOUT a plan!.!.!.

Really, you shouldn't be asking how difficult it is to learn!. There aren't any rules!. You can just!.!.!. draw!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think the term "difficulty" is really perspective-based!. For one thing, it would be very good to first look at learning a new/ improving a skill is by approaching it as a challenge!. One thing to do is try not to get frustrated if you're having trouble getting something to look right and to accept constructive criticism along the way!.

But, I think it was helpful to me to learn from a variety of different sources!. Meaning, how-to-draw books, online tutorials, but mostly art courses!. An art course should go into depth the steps necessary to improving yourself!. (Or at least to provide a, hopefully, good environment for growth amongst others!.)

And as others have mentioned before, honing observational skill is crucial- practice paying attention to detail as well as putting in time and patience!. The only way to do this is to keep working at it!.

I've taken art course all my years at high school and currently am taking one at college!. (It's interesting to learn various instructors' approaches as well; my current one stresses learning to lay down careful contour lines first- forcing one to be sure they are not generalizing their subjects!. She also is presenting us with some helpful tools to use: viewfinder and sighting stick- especially for getting proportions right!. A viewfinder, by the way, is a transparent window with grid-lines over it!.)

On a side note, I agree with you, Mary!. I think it takes something between strict discipline and complete liberty to make some good work!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try making a grid on the picture you want to draw, then making a grid on the paper you want to draw on!. Make sure that they have the same number of boxes!.!. !.from there the rest is pretty easy!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's not that hard!.
You should first focus of drawing the shape (outline) of whatever you're drawing!. Then fill in the details slowly!.

A tip is to always press lightly with your PENCIL (never pen first)!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
