Question: How do you take a picture with your reflection in the mirror, without the flash ruining the picture!?
I have people doing this allot lately; they would stand in front of a mirror, and take a head shot or a full body shot of them self!. And the flash wouldn't ruin the picture!. Every time I try the picture is messed up, sometimes its me that looks horrible or the flash is in the way; sometimes I didn't even get myself!.

Does anyone have good tips on how to make the picture work!?

(P!.S!.; Do you know what I mean!? If not i'll will add more details !.!.!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Turn the flash off!. Use another light source that isn't visible - off to the side or above, depending on how you want your shadows to fall!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I presume that you want to hold the camera, pointing it toward the mirror to photograph your reflection in that mirror!. Obviously, the problem with that is that if the flash is part of the camera, it will be directed toward the mirror!. As a result, the picture will be ruined by the bright flash in the mirror!.

The way to do this is to use a flash that is not on the camera!. Mount the flash on a stand (or use duct tape to fasten it on the mirror) and point it back toward you!. Then, the light from the flash will be on you (the subject) rather than on the mirror!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Let me just take a wild guess here!.!.!.is this for your MySpace page!?!?

This is nothing new!. You would be joining millions of emo kids around the world who take their picture in front of a bathroom mirror with the flash on, because they don't know how to use the timer on their camera or are just too lazy to learn how!.

Steve P was right!. Taking a picture in front of a mirror is the absolute WORST way to take a picture of yourself!. Just use the timer on the camera!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is an old joke that goes something like this:

"Gee Doc!.!.!. it HURTS when I do this"!.
The doctor replys:
"Then don't DO that"!.

TURN THE FLASH OFF! Pretty simple solution!.

You CAN turn the flash off so it will not fire!. However, you do not need to be taking photos in front of a mirror anyway!. I would bet most anything that your camera has a self timer!. Place the camera on a sturdy surface, set the timer, and get in front of the camera!. Be sure you are in good light!.

Take the time to learn how to use your camera properly!.

use a tripod to mount the camera so it won't move, use an indirect light source and turn off the flash of the camera and set the timer, sit very still for the exposure!. it will be less than a second, but it will still be too long to hold the camera still!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
