Question: What are some basic drawing tips!?
I LOVE drawing, I just don't do it much because I'm terrible at it and I get discouraged!. I would like to be a better artist, and for now I just need some basic tips!. I have TONS of oil pastels at home (I don't know why!.!.) so I need tips on how to use them well!.
I like to draw pretty much anything, especially abstract and people!. But, of course, I'm terrible at it!.

So please please please help me start to become a better artist! Thankssss <3Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hello! im 15 and ive been drawing my WHOLE life, i started at 3-ish and never stopped!.
i never took 'classes' or 'lessons', i always taught myself, like a super human!. but i did look at books for ideas!.

i say, i was awful bad, but cute, since i was young, at drawing , but i understood at the age of 5ish
- volume
(it was hard to put it on paper when i was young) now, you know what that is, and i have to say, you dont always have to put shade marks to make volume!. like for instance , when making a hand (more below about hands), the thumb is usually relaxed and put on top of our skin insted of outward, so you would make it rounded more to an angle!.

-i have to say, get intristed in God's creation
i really like animals and nature when young, so i drew a lot of animal and nature things!. get creative!. make up some weird animal or plant, it will be like practice, like for detail!. i love animals so much, that when ever watching educational or child animation movies, i drew what i saw!.

-be detailed!
i always did funny or little unnoticable details when young!. but that grew to big comploments for great detail (like profesionals get!) when ever i drew and someone saw it!.

;now, you said that you get discouraged because your terrible, i was too!. my sister was and is always a little more better comprehending life!. now i say, dont! it makes you worry and stiff and sad, its terrible for you! just practice, practice, practice for the fun of it!

i also like to draw just about anything, and much of people and 'abstract'(i draw just still images that are weird or make you think)
i always drew people and mostly girls, so i know how to do girls better, i know the anatomy and figure needed after years of practice!. (im a girl if thats important, for the essince of femininity) but i learned to do men too, but im still not that good at doing boys because im not intrested in drawing anything prety in a masculine nature!.

hands- okay, i was horrible at making hands, but after copying some fine drawings of it and my sisters advice (shes a year younger than me) i got pretty good at it, and enjoy making new styles of it!.

i never really did anything with pastels yet in my golden years (i know my drawings are visually underdstandable), but i got a good idea of it, and i say, if you dont know how to use the oil pastels to your liking, go look in a book, thats what i do!.

try also coloring alot with many realistic colors, i learned this with experiance! i always dreaded coloring because it was a forced labor at school for esl (for some reason they thought i was dumb) and i usualluy just scribbled any color neer me!. i learned after a while that it was prety when put together like a rainbow!.

my parents are a creative bunch, dad being a painter and house maker, mom being a drawer of nature (and lover of), i clothing artist, knitter, home cooker, and a Haute Couture to family members!.

im sorry that it was so long but i have just one more thing,
get excited!---in middle school we made name tags, and that was a burst of ideas in drawing and many people asked me to make name tags for there room, and i always made these uniqu, usually fantasy art styles they loved!. this got me really excited and im doing it now in my new school and im prety sure after the one im going to make for a girl, its going to be spread for many wanting tags!.

art or drawing is like a different part of your life that you create out of nothing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

How can something be terrible if there is Love behind it!?
What is better than Love!?

In todays world, everything is mass produced with no real truth!. Everything gets thrown away the next day!. The only things that do last and survive are things that are made with love and or passion!. People really notice when something has been made passionately!. Most of the time those things stands out!. It is better to create one heartfelt painting, than three that don't have life!. When you say that you do not draw much, that is alright!.

What makes you feel you wish to be a better artist, from what I can tell you have what it takes already!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are usually night classes on art, or classes given by local art stores that you can take!.

also, the library has TONS of books in it's art section!.

Plus online you only need to start googling 'tutorial" and the type of medium to find good tips!. There are also artist bulletin boards to join up with and talk on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
